Buying Nexus 5 from USA & using it in other Country topic

1) Can LG Nexus 5 (Sprint) bought from sprint store in USA run in other countries without unlocking the phone?
2) If it needs unlocking, can you please specify the way to unlock it.
3) Also, what are the drawbacks if i unlock it?
