USB data connection acting strangely topic

Most usb cables work to charge my phone, but won't form a data connection with my xt910. I do have ONE that will. I thought it might be the cables, but they form a connection with other devices. Thought I'd mention, it says a usb is connected regardless of which cable I use in ap fastboot.

What is going on????

Also, I just got the usb port replaced thinking this was the issue... i don't get it...
