photos app dims the image if you open from file explorer topic

Hello, I downloaded an image from the web and went to the picture in a file explorer. When I open it in photos the image is instantly dimmed. The screen doesn't dim, just the photo. If you drag your finger over the image it is bright, but once you release it's dim again. I found another thread about this on android central, but the only solution was to use the gallery app. I don't really like the gallery app and wish I could remove it. There are other times when it dims the image to. I think when you use the recents menu in photos. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
