Practicality as a console only? topic

I was thinking about getting an Ouya for Android emulation. However the dire reviews are putting me off. Would it be silly to get a Shield and just put it under the telly permanently? I believe I could buy a BlueTooth controller and just veg out on the sofa.

I know there's a considerable price difference between the Ouya and Shield but that's not an issue for me.
