The best thing to do with your Nook topic

Hi,
I've just bought my nook simple touch, imported from the US (i'm french) and can't quite understand
what's the advantages and disadvantage with the mods available, the nook firmwares etc.

I would like to create a thread to help people to make their choice about what to do with their nooks.
What mod should I choose ? why ? can i do this ? to avoid the "if only i've had installed this mod
instead of this one at the time".

Should I update my firmware (now 1.0.1) and to which version ? is there any disadvantage ?

I wan't to get a keyboard. Which ones will work, which one are you using ?
