Hello,

I have a nook color with version 1.4.0
I rooted it when I bough it few years ago and didn't use is much since then.
Today I reset it to factory default with the 8 times restart interruption method.
It works ok but I'm not getting the version update through the WIFI and when copying the zip file nothing happens as well.
I tried to copy an old update, 1.4.1 but it didn't help.
Any suggestions?

Installing CM11 on Stock Nook HD+ topic

Hard to find a good step by step guide on here.

I have a stock 32GB nook HD+ 2.2.0 and want to install CM11 on the internal memory. Started reading this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2062613 but getting a little lost. Whats the difference between the emmc version and the non emmc? Are they just different version for running CM on sd card instead of the internal memory like the old nooks?


Do I need to root first or is cm11 already rooted, if so how? getting lost on all these tutorials.


I have a 4GB microSD should I use the 4gb version on the stock small?

So here's what I am thinking for the internal nook install.

Use win 32disk imager and format the sdcard using the NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-small-rev4-(05.15.13) or 4gb image?

Then transfer cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-emmc.zip or cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-sdcard.zip to the sd card still zipped up and use CWM recovery to flash it? I'm thinking the stock small CWM should be used so I can fit the CM zip on the 4gb sd card.

[Q] Source for replacement battery for Nook HD? topic

I'm having a hard time believing that there are so few aftermarket sources for batteries for the Nook HD and HD+. I've only found NewPower99.com, and they charge (!!) They inlude the tools to replace it, too. I just wonder why it's so hard to find these, I've found replacement batteries for lots of other tablets and e-readers. Any China battery source I should try? Any number that I should search for?

The top number is the Barnes and Noble part number. The MHxxxxx number is near what I think is a certification symbol, so I doubt that's it. So we're left with the VPN, but a search found nothing. Any help out there? There's a factory in China making these, and I'm sure they sell them someplace (other than B&N), but how do we search for them?

Nook Tablet screen not working after factory reset topic

I The touchscreen is not working after a factory reset(back to B&N stock 1.4.2) I have 2 tablets that were rooted and running CM11. Things started to get wacky and both nooks would loose all the apps after working for a while. I was using the sdcard boot . I decided to sell them but wanted to return to factory settings. One tablet worked fine and restored to the girl on the start-up screen with the touch screen working....the other one restored to the girl but the screen will not work. Ive tried booting back to CM11 via sd card and the screen worked. Why will it not work when at factory? Any ideas how to fix? I know its not a hardware issue since it workd with a sd card. Thanks

[Q] CM 10.2 and Nook HD vs. Nook Color topic

Hello,

I have a Nook Color and a Nook HD both running CM 10.2.1 (installed on internal storage). I have two questions:

1. The Nook Color's settings menu looks/functions differently from the Nook HDs The HD has a sort of scrolling menu on the left that, when an option is selected, opens more details on the right part of the screen. The Nook Color's setting menu does not split left and right. It only displays the main menu items and selecting an option from there takes you to that specific menu category. Is this by design, or is there a setting on the HD that I have checked that isn't selected on the Color?

2. The Nook Color has the option, from the Apps Information setting, to move apps to SD. However, the Nook HD does not. Is this a device difference, or a software setting that can be changed? (Ideally, I would like to be able to move apps from internal storage to external storage on the Nook HD).

[Q] Nook Color w/ CM10 every App Crashes topic

Greetings XDA Community,

First I must apologize I am certainly a Noob to anything "Root". I just purchased a Nook Color Used that came with CyanogenMod 10 installed. Tablet was quite laggy at first boot up, but after it installed all my google stuff and I rebooted, it seemed to run pretty well during setup and customization of homescreen and wallpaper stuff. Once I started trying to run apps, any would take FOREVER to even load. Especially Kindle (takes like 5 minutes).

Now the issue is EVERY app eventually freezes and I force close or it automatically closes and returns me to the home screen. Doesn't matter what the APP: google Chrome, Nook, Youtube, Words with friends, games, gmail, etc. Stangely though, the eBay app never crashes and runs really fast.

Can anyone help me figure out why m Nook color doesn't like any apps? Any suggestions? I will gladly share more information about the tablet if someone could tell me how to do it. Did I get a lemon?

BTW, I should note that I really just wanted to use this as a glorified e-Reader, didn't plan on doing tons of browsing, videos, gaming, etc. But, I can't get any of my books or comics to stay open for more than a couple minutes.

I tried to look for situations similar to my own but couldn't seem to find any. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2602796 to root my new 32 gig Nook HD + and everything was going fine up to step 9. When I tried to install the cm 11 zip, I was getting a status 7 error, and as an idiot I forgot to backup my Nook. So I completely understand that it is my fault, but I was wondering i there is any way to go back to stock rom, because all my Nook does is boot up to the CWM. Thank you guys for the help!

I've accidentally cracked my NOOK ST (without glowlight) lcd screen recently. As I was looking for a new lcd on eBay I've got an idea to make my NOOK a glowlight. Would it be possible if I just bought myself a NOOK ST with glowlight lcd screen and simply replace my cracked one with it? I don't expect it to be that easy, but maybe there's a chance anyway? I really like my NOOK ST and wouldn't want any other e-reader.

So I bought this nook for my partner and now it won't boot. I like to think I'm comfortable with all android and every aspect of it but I'm likely not. the nookcolor-emmc-repair-partitions threads (both) don't work. So apparently he's erased partition 3. Thats about everything I know. Can anyone direct me anywhere or give me the most basic detailed instructions on how to do adb?

My Nook HD is rooted and this issue has happened with every ROM (cm10.1 official, cm10.2 nightly, verygreen cm11 unofficial) I've used. If the volume is up and a loud sound it played, is crashes and turns off my device. I have to turn it on again. It hasn't hurt anything that I've seen. My question is: is there an app to prevent this and if so what is it? If not, could somebody make one (I'm not sure if mine is an isolated issue), or teach me to make one (name suggestion: Speaker Keeper) (or show a workaround)? The closest thing that may be causing this is a busted headset jack (not technically busted). It still works, it just is slighty messed up from being dropped on. Two symptoms, one of which I'm not sure if it caused by this, are (sorry if it get's confusing):
1. If I move the headset plug slightly, it will think I have unplugged it entirely, thus triggering the pause of a video if one is playing. I haven't tested this since I've rooted, though I don't think it makes a difference.
2. When using earbuds (well, at least just this one pair, the only pair I could ever find) one of the earbuds (I forget which one. Again, haven't tested it since root, and don't think it woukd be different) made this rattling noise when certain frequency (I believe so. Kinda like speakers that can't process certain sound so they vibrate) sounds played (deep, I think). I think this may just have been a problem with the headphones.
On a side note another thing with my Nook is that I didn't back it up originally when I rooted it with CWM an CM10.1. I still had my personal files after setting up the root, though. Also when it boots up it looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSXxrvE1Ex0&t=5m40s (no, I don't speak... whatever that language is). Could any of this have contributed to this issue?

can't believe my decrepit and all-but-abandoned nook color is humming along with kitkat. succulent is the bomb. he rightly credits all the developers he relied on, but he put it all together. download and flash the cwm update, then the rom and gapps and voila! i used a pc for downloading and the nook data cable and the "send to" option in downloads. great thanks to all.

NOOK HD adb connect in recovery mode topic

i am on cm10.1.3 hummingbird, it is really good.

adb is ok when in normal operating mode, but in cwm recovery, adb seems not to be working, when i do adb devices command,

no device number is shown, adb sideload doesnot work either. has can i solve this problem?

I've been running CM on my HD+ for the last few months and it's been great. I'm working on making some modifications to the VM and to the kernel and it requires building CM from source. I've searched and haven't found a solution but It seems like I'm missing a manifest or something. I'm wondering if this is missing from 10.2 and I should just try building 11 or if there's a way I can build from source.
