[Q] Question about installing stock android apps topic

I'm running 4.4.2 on a rooted Note 3.
I was wondering... if I downloaded stock android apps like... dialer/contacts, camera, gallery, clock... can I just freeze the stock Samsung ones via Titanium Backup and use the stock android ones as default? Would that work normally? Anything I should take into consideration?

So I was using my SGH I317, and when I installed this ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2675066
It changed my SGH I317 into a GT-N7105.

On the back of my phone it still has SGH I317, so can I still install SGH-I317 ROMS, or do I have to install GT-N7105 ROMS?

Ok, so im trying to install Cyanogen Mod 10. I have everything backed up to my SD card, and I have both the ROM and Gapps on my SD card too. when i boot into recovery mode, the follwing screen appears. after a few minutes of doing abdolutely nothing, it will eventually just reboot back into the normal operating system. What am I doing wrong/how can i fix this?

[Q] Almost no vibration after installing CM11 topic

I was using a nightly version of Cyanogenmod 11 for a while, and after one of the nightly updates, my vibration intensity has basically gone to nothing. I can still feel it very slightly but it's almost imperceptible. To try and fix it, I've gone as far as restoring to stock everything (including stock recovery etc.) to see if that would fix it, but still the same issue. Is there any chance this is still a software problem, or is it probably an issue with the vibration motors themselves?

well, looks like i'm totally f*cked up.
i have samsung galaxy ace (GT-S5830), but I've installed wrong custom rom. it is for GT-S5830i :(

after I press reboot on CWM, it just not powered on anymore. I even test with power supply, when I press power, it does not react!
the other problem is, my volume down key somehow break, so i can't use download mode!

Help installing kernel image topic

I've been running Linux (debian/ubuntu based on rabits's stuff) on my tablet, with no ability to (easily) boot Android, for a few months now.
My System partition still has 9.4.5.26 on it, and I'd like to reinstall a 9.4.5.26 kernel, without wiping my System partition, so I can switch back to Android.

I've (I think) extracted a kernel image and a ramdisk image from a 9.4.5.26 install image, and I'm trying to create a install image containing just the kernel and ramdisk, and copy it to the Staging partition with dd.

I've created a Makefile to create the blobfile, and (seemingly) successfully created the blobfile, but after I do the dd, and reboot, debian/ubuntu boots as usual, instead of some kind of install process.

I've included the Makefile that I'm using below.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or what's wrong with my expectations?
Something I have yet to try is an alternative to dd (such as fastboot or nvflash)
Also, maybe I'd have better luck trying to create something that I could install from TWRP.

[Q] installing a custom rom topic

I installed cyanogenmod on my HTC One X+. It's really slow now, so I would like to install another ROM. I tried installing another ROM but it gets stuck on the booting screen everytime. I just installed my backup again, so my phone does work again. How do I install another ROM? I figured out I need to flash another image or something. I can't find a good tutorial on how to do this for a specific ROM and with updated files, because I understood from various forums that I need a newer image if I want to install another ROM?

Installing CM11 on Stock Nook HD+ topic

Hard to find a good step by step guide on here.

I have a stock 32GB nook HD+ 2.2.0 and want to install CM11 on the internal memory. Started reading this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2062613 but getting a little lost. Whats the difference between the emmc version and the non emmc? Are they just different version for running CM on sd card instead of the internal memory like the old nooks?


Do I need to root first or is cm11 already rooted, if so how? getting lost on all these tutorials.


I have a 4GB microSD should I use the 4gb version on the stock small?

So here's what I am thinking for the internal nook install.

Use win 32disk imager and format the sdcard using the NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-small-rev4-(05.15.13) or 4gb image?

Then transfer cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-emmc.zip or cm-11-20140118-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-sdcard.zip to the sd card still zipped up and use CWM recovery to flash it? I'm thinking the stock small CWM should be used so I can fit the CM zip on the 4gb sd card.

[Q] Trouble Installing ICS on X8. topic

Hey guys, I've been browsing xda for a couple months and now I decided to create an account since I've met a problem I can't overcome and I think I could use some help of the members in here.

So what I am trying to do is install the ICS kernel to my X8 and then install the CMD Rom, but everytime I stuck in bootloop after I install the nAa kernel.

The steps I followed are

• Root The Phone


• Install x8 Drivers


• Unlock the bootloader


• Flash nAa Kernel

But after flashing the nAa kernel it just stucks in the Sony Ericsson logo and I have to remove the battery to reboot the phone, I managed to recover it by flashing a stock rom and I tried again installing a different nAa version but still no luck. I also tried wiping data & cache & delvik cache as I read in some threads that may helped but still nothing.

I am kinda new to flashing new roms on devices so I don't know I followed the steps correctly. I also used the search function and found some threads that helped me unbrick the phone back to stock rom, but I can't install the nAa kernel.

Any help would be really appreciated since the x8 device is a friend of mine and I would like to return fully fuctionable.

[Q] Error Installing MTP for HTC One S C2 on Windows XP SP3 topic

Hi,
So I have tried each and every method I could search on the InterWebs.

I am trying to connect my HTC One S C2 (villec2) on Stock 4.1.1 Sense 4+ latest firmware
with Windows XP SP3, Latest HTCDriver_4.2.0.001 are installed. Yes Windows Media Player 11 in installed and NO it does not detect the device either.
ADB works. Windows detects the CD Drive with HTC Sync Manager but no MTP.
There isn't an option available for USB Mass Storage and I don't want to root just yet and I don't have Windows 7

I have tried entering:
%GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0DF8&MI_00

in both wpdmtp.inf and wpdmtphw.inf files.

And I have also tried updating the MTP device driver manually by using the "Have Disk" method.

I am at a loss. If someone can help me, please tell me a way to make MTP work on WINDOWS XP!!! PLEASE!! :crying:

I got the NB4 update and was able to re-root via an older version of Kingo. Got SS installed and want to install a custom rom on the device. When i'm reading through the instructions, it wants me to flash via ODIN some files.

Can anyone explain on why I have to flash via ODIN files to get the ROM to install on SS? I did install one before and it didn't need and re-flashing.
