Unable to disable stock browser, can it be done? topic

Am I not looking for the right application? I've been able to disable stock browsers in many other android phones, but it's not possible on the S4 apparently. This makes opening links a lot more tedious than it should be. Wish you could select a default browser like you select the messaging application.

Hi everyone..

I'm writing this post after being offline from XDA for quite a long while, so keep it cool when answering since my knowledge of what I'm talking about is very limited by now. I have an Xperia Z with eXistenZ 5.0 installed, Build number 10.4.B.0.569, which is a JB Rom and I'd like to try out some new roms, firmwares, recoveries and so on..

First of, I have unlocked my bootloader a very long time ago and I haven't gone back to Stock since then and I am not planning to do so. However to start updating my Xperia what should be done? I have already backed up my current rom with Titanium Backup.

For some reason I can't access recovery mode when powering on and pressing volume down, but I know for a fact that it's pretty easy to install a recovery again.

It would be very much appreciated if you would explain what should be done and why.

Hi folks.
I'm in a tough situation with my sensation. Firstly I should mention that I am totally new to the cell modding scene and only heard of rooting, s-off etc a few days ago. Anyway, I was given this phone in a locked state and followed a guide on this site to root it and s-unlock it. All went well and I was able to unlock it so it would run on the network of my choice. Anyway the problem starts when I got a automatic update option to a newer version of software. I went with it and after installation I got stuck at the green on white "HTC" screen. At first I thought; "No worries,I'll just use the recovery feature to roll back to when I first installed". Whoops, no good! Entering recovery just sends me to a screen where the Android dude has a weird polygon spinning in front of him and then I get stuck at the HTC screen again. So I tried a factory reset and I get the same problem.
So basically I seem to be soft bricked with very limited options. I just want any form of android running again so if anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Let me know if you need any more details.

[Q] Nook color with no emmc and I don't know whats been done to it topic

So I bought this nook for my partner and now it won't boot. I like to think I'm comfortable with all android and every aspect of it but I'm likely not. the nookcolor-emmc-repair-partitions threads (both) don't work. So apparently he's erased partition 3. Thats about everything I know. Can anyone direct me anywhere or give me the most basic detailed instructions on how to do adb?

I've rooted my HTC ONE X (EVITA) with spoof-cid method. Couldn't turn S-OFF. Tried to install roms - didn't like something, wanted to go back to original.

Here when everything went wrong.
While not having any bootable roms,
I've changed CID to "CWS__001" (that was stupid)
Did "fastboot oem lock" (even more stupid)

And here I am - I can boot into fastboot only, no recovery, no rom. Can't flash anything - signature fail.

I am very nearly done with this whole ****ing site. New people are treated like a disease, talked to like they're retarded children and god forbid anyone ask a goddamned question. So I will soon be leaving and I'm 98% sure I'm not the only one. I am by NO means a noon but even I still get **** from these little hotshots around here who can't answer a simple ****ing question without being a smartass. Something needs to be done about this. Are there no moderators for this website? If so, what the hell is their job? Go back and read some of these posts where people are barely containing the venom with which they reply to a post. It's bull****. It's sickening and it's driving people away. People who could be the next generation of devs, the ones who could crack the uncrackable. Does anyone care?
