Radio issues after kitkat update topic

I have been thinking that radio performance after the latest kitkat update does not seem to be as good as the previous version.

i seem to notice that the phone takes little longer to switch to 4G/LTE signal compared to the previous version. I have not tested if the phone has problems maintaining the 4G signal, does anyone else notice this or any other sort of radio issues?

About a month ago i was sitting with my friend with his original HTC one and noticed the same behavior and i think that has now replicated to the MAX too :(

its annoying to find the signal stuck at 3G and the internet speeds are terribly low in 3G when compared to 4G.

FM Radio Help. topic

Has anyone been able to get the FM radio to work on anything other than the stock setup? I have flashed K3, Sacs, and Xnote and have not been able to figure out how to get use of the FM radio back. I restored my nandroid backup to stock and the FM works again. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

S4 Radio Busted? topic

So here's the deal. I had previously unlocked my s4 for tmobile/metro, and I was using it just fine with service and everything until like 2 weeks ago. I think I must have done something but I don't remember. Long story short, now my radio isn't working, for the sim or cdma.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the MEID. I was running sacs mk2 on the MDC modem.

Tried to odin, restore back up. I just don't have an efs back up :/

Not sure what to do now. Hoping someone has some tips.

Thanks to anyone for any type of help.

Has anyone tried this? We have the hardware behind it (twl6040).

I compiled the driver for it, and found the firmware blobs it wanted to load.

No audio. I'm not sure if I just need to use a mixer to map it or if I have further driver problems.
Sometimes I get these errors?

Anyway, I'm thinking it's possible with some work.

Why The Nexus has a bad radio topic

I have an HTC One and Nexus 5 I love them both dearly. However After extensive research on it's not so good radio (Nexus 5) I have compiled many theories about this and solutions.

Firstly the Nexus 5 is an Unlocked GSM Device which means your carrier isn't involved, Which brings many drawbacks such as tower hand off and other signal factors.

Example: HTC One and Nexus 5 Both in backyard 1 Bar Signal both register around -93Dbm, Bring inside both device's where my T-Mobile Cel-FI is.. Boom HTC One automatically hand's off to that "Tower" and the Nexus 5 still is trying to register itself to the tower it was previously on before. Until 2 Mins later it will register on the Cel-FI repeater.

Why is this? Carrier Devices are better for signal as the carrier optimizes them before releasing the radio to the handset, where as Google and LG release like a very generic radio RIL which works decently for all carriers, however once again there are drawbacks to that as stated above.

To better improve hand off and signal readings see this article I found which helped me http://ianmarmour.com/2014/02/02/goo...-34g-networks/

Its better than before but still not comparable to an HTC One

So overall carrier devices have much better signal and tower handoff as the carrier optimized the radio as where as a Unlocked device it's very generic and won't be as great as a device from your carrier (This same behavior is present in a Factory Unlocked iphone 5 vs T-Mobile branded iPhone 5)

I expect google to roll out a software update soon to fix this :good::D , I hope this helps the majority of you having signal issues

[Q] Why can't I get radio to work on 4.4? topic

I've been on CM 4.2 for ages, finally decided to make the jump a 4.4 ROM. I decided to try slickricks PA 4.4 Build, which seemed stable enough.

Got it all installed, boots fine, but I have no radio. Zero service. I've tried flashing every radio that RWilco has on his site (Through CWM and Odin), as well as the MK4 modem from here.

I also tried loading a backup of Stock TW (where mobile radio works fine) and doing a PRL / Profile update, but that didn't do anything.

I've just run out of things to try. If anybody has any suggestions, please share. Thanks in advance.

Problem with 3G signal - maybe radio? topic

Hello everyone.
I have installed CM11 on my One S. I have problem with my 3G network. I only get 2G.
So I dont know where is the problem, probably in my radio. I think there is some mistake. At first I flash new radio 1.20, but I was reading that this radio may be a problem for my 3G signal. So I tried to downgrade radio tu 1.15 eu version (Im from europe), but Im not sure if I did it correctly.
Everything else works very well.
I have less than 10 posts so I cant post forum link on picture.

[Q] Issues with Google ROM and Radio topic

Hello,

I'm having some trouble getting a custom ROM to function properly. I've tried two different Google based ROMs and I no signal whatsoever. I have a friend who has the same phone, same provider and country and can get these ROMs working fine. He suggested that it is due to my older modem version and should consider updating it. I was told I could simply revert back to the stock Samsung ROM and do a Software Update and it should grab the new modem firmware but when I tried to do this, it told me my phone had been modified and I could not receive updates. How can I update the modem version to the newest without having to restart from an unrooted factory default phone?

Any suggestions and help are appreciated

Thanks

[Q] Can I remove radio .zip from Cyanogenmod 10.2? topic

So I flashed my HTC Droid DNA to Page Plus Cellular. That worked out all fine and dandy, however, the guy I paid to do this service for me warned me that if I flash a custom ROM it would break the radio flash. I had actually pre-flashed Cyanogenmod prior to flashing PPC, but he had me restore stock Andriod because, evidently, Cyanogenmods 10 and 11 do not include DIAG mode. So, my quesion is, IF I remove whatever .zip from the Cyanogenmod package that contains radio information, AND THEN flash Cyanogenmod using TWRP, would this break my carrier flash to PPC??? Thanks in advance for any help.

How to reset radio setting or phone info settings? topic

I was messing around with my phone and somehow I messed up my radio setting or phone info settings. I am now unable to make or receive phone calls. My phone is stuck on LTE only in the phone info settings (*#*#4636#*#*). If I change it from LTE only to perhaps LTE/GSM or LTE/GSM/CDMA it would work for awhile and I would be able to make and receive calls but if I restart the phone it goes right back to LTE only.

I am trying to avoid resetting my whole phone.

Thanks

FM Radio topic

Hi..
Above all, apology if these kind of thread has already posted before.

I was using the stock rom Gingerbread 2.3.6 before i use my current rom (CM 10.1).
The problem is, there is FM radio on the old stock rom. Is there any chance i can hear the radio on my current rom?

Thx...

T-Mobile Z1S FM Radio topic

I have a question for Xperia z1S owners. Does this phone have hardware support for FM Transmitting? I don't have a car with an aux cable or Bluetooth so.. All of the music on my phone is inaccessible when I'm driving. But I'm hoping that the FM receiver can be made to transmit either natively or via 3rd party app?

I did a search for this through google and also here but I haven't found anything about it. I know the Xperia Z Ultra supports this function and it would be the final nail in the coffin for me so to speak as to whether or not I choose this over the Nexus 5 or the Note 3.

Anyone tried rumrunner for radio s off? topic

Rumrunner has a tool for the HTC one v,wich is very similar hardware. It may work on the sensation xl.

Install a rom with an insecure kernel, and run the one v tool.

I tried it on htc flyer,no harm will be done if the tool doesn't work.

Just wanted to throw it out there if no one has tried it :)

Galaxy Y Duos - No Radio after Loading GIJ topic

I was very frustrated at my inability to load anything on my Galaxy Y Duos (GT-S6102) without getting Low Memory errors, so I looked through several forums and found GingerIceJelly. The reviews and posts seems positive and I downloaded it. I had previously rooted the phone with no problems, and have loaded Custom ROMS onto other phones in the past.

I followed all the instructions provided and the load was successful, but I am no longer connecting to any service on either SIM. The Baseband version did not change, and everything else runs fine.

I did not make a back up of the Stock ROM before I started (I know... bad).

I need to know if I can fix the connection issue, or if someone can point me to a copy of the stock ROM. The only thing I've been able to find was a link to Hotfile.com which is now closed due to piracy. The Stock Rom version is S6102XXKL8 (Romainian I think)

Any and all help would be appreciated.
