Factory Reset with broken screen - no USB debugging enabled topic

Hello,
First I'm sorry for my bad english.
I must reset my Note 2 to factory (or delete any personal data) but my screen is completely broken and I don't see anything. All I've tried like ADB or Screen Mirroring failed because my USB debugging isn't enabled. Also I've tried to Flash the Stock ROM and a Factory_Reset.tar via ODIN but it also failed. What can I do?
PS: I must send it to the new owner the next time :D
Thanks alot!

Is there a stock rom with a counter reset? topic

I know knox is a pain in the "butt" but I just got the tablet (P600) yesterday and I am a regular rooter on my S3 and all my phone previously but if I do root will I not be able to get back to the stock with a reset of the counter? I know this may be an odd question but I just started looking today. Really I just want to get rid of some of the bloatware on here and maybe play around with the kernel later down the road.

Factory Reset with root and R/W off on 4.4 topic

I'm giving my phone to my brother and I want to keep the root and R/W off but I need to clear all the personal data off the phone before handing it over to him. I used jcase's beta method before WPNOMORE was out and then ran WPNOMORE when it was released. I'm pretty sure this means I don't have a recovery since the beta method for 4.4 kept the R/W off "recovery" exploit. So how would I go about doing a factory reset now? Will I have to RSDlite back to 4.2.2 and then redo the root/WP method?

How-To Unbrick and or Factory Reset the S4 topic

***First off I would like to state that there are plenty of similar documents out there but they are usually limited to a specific firmware version of your phone but they dont bother in any way to mention this little fact which in turn causes a lot of headaches. So to make it all simple, I have written this nice guide to help you unbrick you soft-bricked phone or to simply revert back to a factory set phone (just in case you want to unvoid your warrany).

How-To Unbrick and or Factory Reset the S4

You will first need to download the latest software. Find links below:
  1. Odin 3.07 or higher. If the url below is dead just google search and you will find it.

    uploaded.net/file/m9edxzk9

  2. You will need to download the proper firmware/OS for your phone. Before you just arbitrarily pick out a version to install, you need to see what version you already have. The S4 is designed so you CANNOT DOWNGRADE. At least not easily so I wont even get into it here. You MUST install either the same or a higher version. But remember that once you install a higher version there is no going back to lower versions. For ex: If your version is L720VPUEMK2, you must either stay with this version or download a newer one such as L720VPUFNAE. Use the link below to find the version you want to install.

    samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SPH-L720

**Please keep in mind that the firmware files are quite large and the download mirrors are usually pretty slow. So you may expect an entire day just to download it.

Now that you have downloaded the needed files you are ready to go. Here are the steps below:
  1. Place your S4 into Download Mode. To do this you must power off the device first. Hold down the Volume-Down, Power, and Home buttons simultaneously for several seconds until you see a window alerting you about download mode. Once you are at this screen press Volume-Up to actually place the phone into Download Mode.

  2. Open Odin. Make sure you run this as an administrator. To do this simply right-click the file and select "Run as administrator".

  3. Connect a USB cord from your PC to your device. Odin should automatically see the connected device and you will see COM port being used at this point. Make sure to use a good USB cord for this operation as cheaper cords generally cause the process to fail. The best cord is usually your factory cord that came with the device.

  4. Sometimes Odin defaults these properly but best to be safe. Make sure the "F Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot" checkboxes are checked inside Odin.

  5. Click the PDA button inside Odin and select the extracted MD5 file (the firmware file you downloaded). Make sure you have extracted it from the zip file somewhere before you try to select it here. This may take several seconds or even up to a few minutes to return since its a large file.

  6. You are ready to go. Click the Start button inside Odin and it should start uploading the file to the device. Keep in mind that these files are large so it may take upwards of a half hour to copy it to your device.

  7. Once it is copied up, it will install the image on your device and reboot itself (maybe even reboot 2x automatically). Be patient as it comes up.

That should get you back to the factory setup. However, if your device had been soft-bricked, its possible that you may get stuck at the Sprint boot animation screen like mine did after it reboots. Or perhaps you simply want to wipe the device and start over. Follow these next steps to get it going.
  1. Place the device into Recovery Mode. To do this power the device off. Then hold Volume-Up, Power, and Home simultaneously until the device boots and you see some extremely tiny blue text at the top of the screen indicating that it is booting into Recovery Mode.

  2. Use the volume keys to navigate the menu up and down. Move down to "wipe data/factory reset" and press your power button to select this. It will ask you to confirm so scroll down to the "yes" choice and hit the power button to accept.

  3. Once this process is finished, select the reboot option and hit power. Your device should now reboot and come back up.

Please keep in mind that after performing either a firmware upgrade/reinstall or even a factory reset, your phone may take more time than normal to restart. Once it finishes however, you should be able to do what you need on your device. This method will also restore your warranty counter. Anyhow I hope this helps everyone that has had issues with the S4 and needed a clean slate. The described methods will also work for other carriers as long as you download the proper firmware. But just remember to proceed at your own risk.

Doing a factory reset and keeping root topic

I have a rooted Note 3 and was wondering is it possible to do a factory reset and keep root? I am considering selling my note so I want the phone to be completely wiped of my personal information but have it retain root as I think that will help the resale. I have not flashed roms I am still using stock but am using things like xsposed installer. Thanks.

XT912 - Camera and Headphone Jack Not Working - Should do Factory Reset? topic

My motorola xt912's headphone Jack and Camera does not work. This happened after doing a system update a while back. I have read that I have to do a factory reset to get it back to the original software.

However, my phone is unlocked. I took it in to get it done and that store no longer exists. So I would not be able to unlock it again (for the Canadian Network). Would resetting it to factory settings get rid of the "unlock"?

Thank you!

[Q] sd card deleted after reset? topic

Hi,
I just installed CM11. After booting it said something about wrong system UIDs, so I did a factory reset to fix it. It worked, but now I can't find my backups on my sd card, it seems to be empty. Did the factory reset delete my sd card?

Edit: I just tried to restore my backup in recovery mode, but it says "no files found". Did the factory reset even delete my system backup??

[Q] Stuck on Boot Loop have tried factory data reset AND manually installing firmware topic

My GS2 (Model SGH-S959G) is stuck on boot loop and I have tried factory data reset. It started to reset as usual then started right back into boot loop. It now just says 'deleting cryption meta data' when I attempt to go into factory data reset mode and then starts to boot loop all over. I also have the stock firmware for it on my computer and attempted to install it with Odin as per instruction I actually found on this forum (which is why I'm here asking this question :) ) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1982571. I followed the directions for flashing the factory firmware as listed. Odin read the install was a success and gave me the green PASS, however the phone went right back to boot loop. How can I fix this?

Thanks for your help in advance! I've been trying to figure this out all day :/

[Q] I need to reset my GS4, but there's a problem. topic

Hey guys,

So once upon a time, actually about a month ago, I had this great idea to root and flash CM on my AT&T GS4 on 4.3. Well I used Kingo Root and it went fine. But then came the flashing part. I went through all of the steps to get CM, until I saw to the "Downloading" Odin Mode screen and quickly realized the tutorial I used, did not take into the account I had a locked bootloader.. (Thanks AT&T..) Well I finally got out of that and quickly unrooted because I was scared of causing more damage.

Then came along the 4.4 KitKat OTA update which I desperately want. 4.3 is a disaster on my GS4. Anyways, after it downloaded and started to install, it restarted to the Odin Screen!! And so I got out of that.. again.. And now I'm back on 4.3 with no current issues. Except that I figured a factory reset would help me. Once again, it took me to the Odin screen and apparently I'm not going to be factory resseting either..

I really want to go to the exact way I got it. So I can start fresh and get the 4.4 update. I had seen where you could go into the recovery screen and select to wipe all data, but I'm not sure and do NOT want to lose my phone because it works right now.

So any thoughts?

XT912 won't reset topic

2 days ago, a friend asked me to look at his XT912. The phone suddenly started crashing apps and processes and had become completely unused. I tried to do a FDR, but when the phone rebooted, it hadn't wiped anything from the phone. The lock screen was still active, the wallpaper was the same and the accounts were still configured. An FDR should have asked for a fresh setup, and it didn't. I tried to disable the lock screen and it won't change. I thought I would try Matt's Droid Utility and brought the phone home with me.

I just ran Matt's utility on the phone and chose the option to restore JB and wipe data. Everything indicated it worked successfully from the computer and the phone rebooted.

When the phone booted up to install the radio information, the screen had the dead droid with the ! inside the red triangle instead of the standing droid with the blew spinning globe. After a short time, the phone did reboot on its own, but hadn't changed anything. The lock screen was still active, wallpaper was still the same. The phone wasn't asking for the fresh setup process.

Any ideas of how I might proceed?

Thanks,

Roger
