[Q] Unbrick hard-bricked SPH-L710 topic

Hello all!

Well, looks like I hard-bricked my phone. It will not boot into download or recovery mode. What do I do?
I tried using quite a couple sd-card guide, but no avil.
I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2345860 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2369125

Also, if it will help, I got a full backup of boot, cache, data, recovery, system in ".win" files. I cannot load it the "simple" way (through TWRP) since I cannot even get into recovery.

Please help me fix this without using a JTAG service, because there is always the question of wheater I will get my phone back once it is fixed.

Maxwell Dreytser.

Unbrick Xperia Z - Not charging or Booting topic

Hey everyone, first of all I've been struggling with the Xperia Z C6602 for long time now and no one could fix it, i kept on playing around until i got it booting up again, here are the symptoms and the solution, btw my device is stock, unrooted and the bootloader is locked

-Symptoms
First it started by showing weird battery levels and battery draining then its totally dead as its not charging

*Device not booting up, only showing Sony logo then turns itself off
*Device not charging
*When ever i try to use Flashtool in Flashmode the process gets interrupted and fails because the device restarts by itself
*Using SUS doesn't help because the device keeps on rebooting by itself
*The only stable state of the device is in Fastboot mode
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Solution
This solution gets the device working again BUT i still have the charging bug as i haven't tried other firmwares that i wish they have the bug fix

Required tools and files:

1- A Firmware in FTF format which can be found on the following link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...0-101-t2639943)
2- Flashtool which can be found on the following link (http://www.flashtool.net/index.php)
3- Winrar or any archive decompressing tool

Procedures:

1- Get a charge for your device by keeping it plugged into the DC charger (Wall Charger) and pressing Volume Up + Power while connecting until the device vibrates (Keep it plugged in for a couple of hours even if the device keeps on rebooting)
2- Open the downloaded FTF file with Winrar and extract all the files into a folder of your choice on your computer
3- Execute Flashtool by going to its default installation folder (C:\Flashtool\) and double clicking on FlashTool.exe (Start it up as an administrator)
4- Now after having the device plugged into a power source for a couple of hours you can take it off and make sure its shutdown completely, Keep on pressing the "Volume UP" button while connecting the device to your computer until you see the LED on the top right of the device lighting in "Blue" then the Flashtool Status Box should indicate that a device has been connected in Fastboot mode
5- Click on the "Thunder" icon on the top left of the window just under the File menu and choose Fastboot mode
6- A Window will open with multiple Buttons, Click on the "Select System to Flash" button and browse your computer to locate the files that were extracted from the FTF file and choose the file named "system.sin"
7- Keep an eye on the Status Text Box on the main window of the application to check if the process went smoothly or its showing an error, it should go smoothly after that you will have to click on the "Thunder" button again and choose Fastboot mode
8- Click on the button named "Select kernel to HotBoot" and navigate your files to select the "kernel.sin" file from the same folder as "system.sin"
9- The device will reboot and the main window of Flashtool will indicate that a device has been disconnected and then connected again in "FlashMode" this time, This time it won't reboot by itself and it will remain in Flashmode as long as its connected to the PC
10- Now click on the "Thunder" button on the top left again and this time choose "FlashMode", make sure you have the FTF file or the desired firmware in the firmwares folder of Flashtool which is "C:\Flashtool\Firmwares", The desired firmware will be listed in the firmware list, Select it and click on "Flash" button on the bottom right
11- Keep watching the status text box to make sure everything is going on smoothly, When it indicates that flashing is done please disconnect your phone and start it up normally

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now you should have your device alive again, If some one is aware of a specific firmware build that has the battery bug fixed please post it here, The firmware on my device now is .101 which was updated through OTA update once i booted up again but the bug persists

Hope it helps, thanks

How-To Unbrick and or Factory Reset the S4 topic

***First off I would like to state that there are plenty of similar documents out there but they are usually limited to a specific firmware version of your phone but they dont bother in any way to mention this little fact which in turn causes a lot of headaches. So to make it all simple, I have written this nice guide to help you unbrick you soft-bricked phone or to simply revert back to a factory set phone (just in case you want to unvoid your warrany).

How-To Unbrick and or Factory Reset the S4

You will first need to download the latest software. Find links below:
  1. Odin 3.07 or higher. If the url below is dead just google search and you will find it.

    uploaded.net/file/m9edxzk9

  2. You will need to download the proper firmware/OS for your phone. Before you just arbitrarily pick out a version to install, you need to see what version you already have. The S4 is designed so you CANNOT DOWNGRADE. At least not easily so I wont even get into it here. You MUST install either the same or a higher version. But remember that once you install a higher version there is no going back to lower versions. For ex: If your version is L720VPUEMK2, you must either stay with this version or download a newer one such as L720VPUFNAE. Use the link below to find the version you want to install.

    samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SPH-L720

**Please keep in mind that the firmware files are quite large and the download mirrors are usually pretty slow. So you may expect an entire day just to download it.

Now that you have downloaded the needed files you are ready to go. Here are the steps below:
  1. Place your S4 into Download Mode. To do this you must power off the device first. Hold down the Volume-Down, Power, and Home buttons simultaneously for several seconds until you see a window alerting you about download mode. Once you are at this screen press Volume-Up to actually place the phone into Download Mode.

  2. Open Odin. Make sure you run this as an administrator. To do this simply right-click the file and select "Run as administrator".

  3. Connect a USB cord from your PC to your device. Odin should automatically see the connected device and you will see COM port being used at this point. Make sure to use a good USB cord for this operation as cheaper cords generally cause the process to fail. The best cord is usually your factory cord that came with the device.

  4. Sometimes Odin defaults these properly but best to be safe. Make sure the "F Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot" checkboxes are checked inside Odin.

  5. Click the PDA button inside Odin and select the extracted MD5 file (the firmware file you downloaded). Make sure you have extracted it from the zip file somewhere before you try to select it here. This may take several seconds or even up to a few minutes to return since its a large file.

  6. You are ready to go. Click the Start button inside Odin and it should start uploading the file to the device. Keep in mind that these files are large so it may take upwards of a half hour to copy it to your device.

  7. Once it is copied up, it will install the image on your device and reboot itself (maybe even reboot 2x automatically). Be patient as it comes up.

That should get you back to the factory setup. However, if your device had been soft-bricked, its possible that you may get stuck at the Sprint boot animation screen like mine did after it reboots. Or perhaps you simply want to wipe the device and start over. Follow these next steps to get it going.
  1. Place the device into Recovery Mode. To do this power the device off. Then hold Volume-Up, Power, and Home simultaneously until the device boots and you see some extremely tiny blue text at the top of the screen indicating that it is booting into Recovery Mode.

  2. Use the volume keys to navigate the menu up and down. Move down to "wipe data/factory reset" and press your power button to select this. It will ask you to confirm so scroll down to the "yes" choice and hit the power button to accept.

  3. Once this process is finished, select the reboot option and hit power. Your device should now reboot and come back up.

Please keep in mind that after performing either a firmware upgrade/reinstall or even a factory reset, your phone may take more time than normal to restart. Once it finishes however, you should be able to do what you need on your device. This method will also restore your warranty counter. Anyhow I hope this helps everyone that has had issues with the S4 and needed a clean slate. The described methods will also work for other carriers as long as you download the proper firmware. But just remember to proceed at your own risk.

Trying to unbrick my AT&T HTC One topic

Hello all, I've been using these forums for information frequently, but this is the first time I've run into trouble. I updated my AT&T HTC One to the GPE, but decided I wanted to go back to stock with the impending HTC Sense 5.5 update around the corner. I had gotten GPE via rumrunner and the methods at htc-one.wonderhowto.com (I can't post the direct link).

I had then reverted back to a rooted stock ROM, but it would not perform OTA updates. So, my next step was to get S-ON and re-lock the device. I accomplished those, but somehow I now have no OS - I can get into recovery (stock), but cannot perform anything from there. Factory resets and wipes do nothing for me. I have access to fastboot, and have attempted running various RUUs but all of them give me error code 155, which appears to be due to the wrong version. However, I have tried all of the AT&T US RUUs I can find, so I'm sort of at a loss there.

I thought maybe I could get unlocked again so that I could load TWRP again, but running the HTCDev unlocktoken command does nothing, other than tell me it was successful - it stays on the fastboot screen instead of showing the option to choose Yes/No to unlock.

So, after hours of attempts, I'm sort of stuck. Could anyone help point me in the right direction? By the way, my device reads TAMPERED and RELOCKED in the bootloader, and S-ON. Below is the output of my getvar all:
