Safe removal of apps from rooted N7 (2013) 4.2.2 topic

Hi all. I'm wanting to remove some of the apps from my Nexus 7 (2013). It is rooted and using the stock 4.2.2 KitKat ROM.

Can anyone tell me which apps are safe for removal and which ones aren't, as well as the best way to go about it?

I don't need things like some of the Google apps but I've had bad experiences with previous Android devices when I've just started deleting things :)

Many thanks all!

[Q] LS980 - Which ROMs are safe to flash? topic

Couldn't find an answer to this question, but I come from the Galaxy SIII (d2att) and with that device, you could also flash roms from d2tmo as well. You couldn't flash any other SIII roms on the d2att, though, because of a different partition layout and different hardware.

That said, this is also my first CDMA phone, so I'm really not sure how different they are. So can a vs980 rom, for example, be flashed on the ls980 and then flash a modem/radio/etc from the ls980? I noticed that roms like Mahdi are device agnostic and you install a patch for your specific device. Can this be done with any rom? I ask this because I'm tired of seeing so many roms that I would LOVE to use but can't because there's no ls980 version and it frustrates the crap out of me. It often feels like this is the most under-developed version of the G2.

tl;dr can I install a vs980 rom on ls980 then flash a radio/modem/etc?

[Q] S3 I9300 Stuck on safe mode topic

Hi friends, after a lot of research and web searching i'm totally out of ideas and options :(

The problem: My S3 I9300 reboot in safe mode every time, is has been doing it since the past sunday. Another tip is that the volume buton down seems not work but only in CM Recovery or in the running software itselfs, it work correctly in donwload mode since i can reboot by presin the buton down. Another interesting fact is thath when I reboot the phone it start the led until it comes the Galaxy S 3 Logo (by presing the button down it power downs the led).

The posible solutions:
  • Reboot
Reboot after take the battery for a few minutes
Reboot after take the battery out for hours
    Flash Custom Cyanogenmod
Flash back stock s3 Jelly Bean (various ROM)
Try to press volume up, volume down, menu capacitive, back capacitive keys and nothing.
Take it to technical service (every one say it was software, but want to charge me a lot of money, talking about an hardware box "especially for flash samsungs")

I have done all the things that I expose before and possible anothers that I don't remember right now, and nothing works, it continuos rebooting into safe mode.

I have too read a lot on google and here and any of the posted solutions works for me.

Do anyone know how to solve this?

Really need help, thanks you all before hand!

Solve problems with Safe mode topic

" Unfortunately, the process com.xxx.phone has stopped" Normally this error message is due to conflicts arose by an application. Sometime the the phone becomes completely unusable.

Solution: Boot to Safe Mode and Uninstall the App.

How to Boot to safe mode:
1. Switch phone off
2. Hold the power button until google logo (first logo) appears, then hold down volume down until phone has finished booting.
3. You will see the safe mode Notification in the bottom left corner of the screen.
4. Open Playstore and uninstall the conflicting application then reboot.

Restore your Widgets and your phone should be trouble free.

NOTE: None of your data will be Lost:good:

Safe ROM evolution path topic

Many of us love to install and test new ROMs on our devices. One of the things that I have suffered the most is how to know if my current ROM can be upgraded to a different one.

Lets use this thread to comment if

I have already tested:

FROM ....................................... TO .................................................. .......................... Method
B125 (international) ..................... CyanogenMod 10.1 (surdu_petru) ................................ root + CWM + TWRP
CyanogenMod 10.1 ..................... B120 (international) .................................................. .. dload + 3-button autoinstall
B125 .......................................... HYD52ROM V2 (husen4u) .......................................... root + CWM + TWRP
HYD52ROM V2 ........................... B120 (international) .................................................. .. dload + 3-button autoinstall

Does anyone know if I can flash B120 CN being on CyanogenMod for International based on B125?

[Q] app that keeps the volume at a safe level for Nook HD speakers. topic

My Nook HD is rooted and this issue has happened with every ROM (cm10.1 official, cm10.2 nightly, verygreen cm11 unofficial) I've used. If the volume is up and a loud sound it played, is crashes and turns off my device. I have to turn it on again. It hasn't hurt anything that I've seen. My question is: is there an app to prevent this and if so what is it? If not, could somebody make one (I'm not sure if mine is an isolated issue), or teach me to make one (name suggestion: Speaker Keeper) (or show a workaround)? The closest thing that may be causing this is a busted headset jack (not technically busted). It still works, it just is slighty messed up from being dropped on. Two symptoms, one of which I'm not sure if it caused by this, are (sorry if it get's confusing):
1. If I move the headset plug slightly, it will think I have unplugged it entirely, thus triggering the pause of a video if one is playing. I haven't tested this since I've rooted, though I don't think it makes a difference.
2. When using earbuds (well, at least just this one pair, the only pair I could ever find) one of the earbuds (I forget which one. Again, haven't tested it since root, and don't think it woukd be different) made this rattling noise when certain frequency (I believe so. Kinda like speakers that can't process certain sound so they vibrate) sounds played (deep, I think). I think this may just have been a problem with the headphones.
On a side note another thing with my Nook is that I didn't back it up originally when I rooted it with CWM an CM10.1. I still had my personal files after setting up the root, though. Also when it boots up it looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSXxrvE1Ex0&t=5m40s (no, I don't speak... whatever that language is). Could any of this have contributed to this issue?

[Guide] Apps safe to remove topic

Hi there!

I've put together a spreadsheet of apps that are (or so far seem) safe to remove from the Nexus 5. Note that I am running 4.4 KitKat, which has been unlocked with TWRP and rooted. The spreadsheet comes from the combined efforts of hallstevenson's spreadsheet on the Galaxy S3 for Spring (which I adapted and updated for the Verizon version), and referencing MoJo's script for removing Nexus 5 bloatware. I used Titanium Backup to go through and type in the packages and APK names.

CLICK HERE FOR ACCESS TO THE SPREADSHEET [GOOGLE DOCS]

If you have questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, or want to tell me exactly where I'm wrong about something, please leave a comment here! If such a list already exists, I couldn't find it through searching. And if I'm in the wrong category, I apologize; seeing MoJo's script here led me to think this would be the appropriate place.
