modifying app to become a home launcher? topic

hi guys.

i remember reading a bit about this possibility a few years back, but i can't seem to find any useful info on it now.

i am looking to mod the XBMC apk for myself and a few friends, by turning it into a home launcher.

i know this can be done with certain apps from the play store, but i would prefer to do it this way.

anyone has some good tips on how to do it ?
