Question about S4 topic

Hello, i'm from dominican republic and I've buyed a S4 SPH-l720 this phone came unlock and rooted and i can use it in with mi carrier Claro!, the thing is my phone have downloaded and update but i haven't installed this update yet, the question is if i update the S4 with the new android kitkat will i lose the root and the unlock?? My phone is rooted! can i update in ota?? What Should i do in this case??

I'm a bit missed because this is my first android phone i came from blackberry! and for that reason i don't know much about android!
