Regarding rooting while on a Pay as you go plan topic

Hello everyone,

Just received my Nexus 5 yesterday and loving so far!

My question is: If I root my phone, will I have to set up my pay as you go plan again? From what I have researched, once I root, the phone gets wiped out, including data? Just curious if I will have to go back to At&t and have them set it up again.
