Need Suggestions topic

HI i have android app development experience for 2 years.

I understand the framework but when it comes to typical situation when i think it would have been better if more android internals were given or more documentation was available.

So my question is for app developers what is the next stage for learning in android development So that we have deeper understanding of the framework and solve typical issues as well. for eg

Activity finish() dismissis and removes the dialog in that activity but i could not find any docs regarding this. so i was in dilemna what to do?

Please help how to advance more into android and if possible please give links to study material or links where i can get a path

Thanks

[Q] Suggestions for a video? - I've got a camera and an Xperia S left over! topic

Hey Xperia loving folks!

Two months ago, I decided to post a video of my Xperia S running one of the first stable KitKat ROMs on YouTube. To my surprise, that video has been watched (almost) twelve thousand times already (even though I don't like that video since it's too amateuristic)!
Apparently, there is still a lot of interest in the Xperia S.

Since I have a camera and since I'd love to learn more about videography (I'm really into photography right now, planning on doing more though), making videos for you, yes you, would be ideal for both of us!
Back to my question: do you have any suggestions as to what I could show you on my Xperia S? I've done a horrible walkthrough of the first stable KitKat ROM already, and I've made a comparison video between the Xperia S and my new Xperia Z1 (which, surprisingly, did not seem to attract a lot of viewers at all).

If you'd like to see something, preferrably something that does not require root or kernel changes, I'd love to know!
I could root my phone again, flash a kernel and a ROM, but that'll take quite some time, which I don't really have anymore now that I'm very busy with my studies for Artificial Intelligence.

P.S. Here's the link to the horrible KitKat walkthrough, and here is the S vs. Z1 comparison, which is a little less amateuristic.

Call Recorder App Suggestions topic

Hi,
Looking for a good call recorder app.
I tried AutoCallRecorder by Callx today.
All kind of issues but mainly it would only
record my side of conversation. Tried all
the settings, but never got it to work.
I have an unrooted ATT Galaxy S4.
Thanks for any help,
Ken

[Q] LCD + SIM Flex Cable Connectors Broken - Suggestions? topic

First time poster here and wanted to start by saying thanks to the members on here who have spent countless hours teaching others how to root, unlock, flash custom ROMs, etc. Your guidance has provided lots of fun in the Android world. :)

Recently, the LCD glass screen had shattered on my HTC One, and I had purchased a replacement front and back. Upon transferring the motherboard + the secondary chip to the new housing, I accidentally broke off the flex cable connectors for the LCD screen and SIM card. Upon completion of reassembly, I crossed my fingers as I pressed the power button, only to be met with the initial power-on vibration and no image on the LCD. Unfortunately, I can't verify if the SIM slot is working without the LCD, but I'd assume it isn't.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my story. I've supplemented it with pictures indicating where I messed up. The first picture is the motherboard. Compare the two connectors contained in the red circle. The left one has the white tab, while the right is missing its white tab. The second picture is the SIM connector to the secondary board. As you may notice yet again, the white connector is missing. If anyone has legit/illegit solutions to this problem, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance!

Asking for some suggestions topic

I just bought one Nexus 7 for a relative at oversea, who has zero knowledge about rooting, bootloader, recovery, custom ROM/kernel, etc. However, I want to root the device at least, to install some good apps like Xposed framework , greenify ; yet do not want to prevent OTA by the owner himself later if he wants to.
So, is there any app to retain root if OTA ? And any other tweaks you can think of ? TIA
