Rogers D803 - KK update vs Root topic

Hi all!
Rogers has just released KK update.
Since there's no root method as of now for 4.4, I decided to root my phone this morning prior to performing the update.
My question:

Do I also need to install a custom recovery (TWRP) BEFORE upgrading to 4.4 if I want to keep root access?
Is it sufficient to be rooted (without custom recovery) in order to keep root access after 4.4 update?

I already downloaded the update to my phone but opted to install the update later.
So I'm hoping this way, I won't have any issues with the phone not wanting to download the update because of a not stock recovery detected.

I have a rooted Rogers D803 variant with trwp. KitKat release update is Tuesday. I'm still on stock. Do I need to unroot before updating or there should be no problems?

I just bought a LG G2 D803 off kijiji and have found out the hard way it has been blacklisted. Does anyone have a guide on fixing this or has anyone successfully changed there imei on these models? I am rooted on 4.2.2 stock

[Q] Help can't access diag mode LG G2 D803 topic

I can't get into DIAG mode when I enter ##3424# (##DIAG#). Is there a different sequence for the D803 model? Or is there a manual way of getting this device into diagnostics mode?
I have all the drivers downloaded and device manager shows under Android USB Devices AndroidNet Sooner Single ADB Interface)
and under Ports shows LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM8) which is exactly what I want just can't seem to get DIAG mode to work.

[Q] D803 soft brick topic

So... After trying to flash a different modem believing it would get me better signal on a custom ROM, I got stuck in a bootloop. I restored my EFS backup as suggested, but that did nothing. Now my phone will not get past the dancing Google circles, and nor will it get recognized by my computer. How, at the very least, would I go about getting my computer to recognize it so I can put the proper files on my phone needed to fix it?
