[Q] Is it possible to gain root using LG Backup? topic

It seems LG Backup Application simply combine files using 'tar' command with -p option and rename it to *.lbf file.
So, is it possible to gain root access by compressing superuser files(apk and binary) with proper permissions?
I can't test it since I don't have ubuntu installed on my computer :P

p.s First folder(ex /data) has 644 permission, instead 755.

[Q] Howto gain root with Linux? topic

Hi,
I'm looking forward to getting my Z1 tomorrow, and being used to having root on my device (ever since I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS) I'd like to get it here as well.

After a bit of reading I got the impression it's rather difficult compared to my previous phone - at least when I'm not having access to a windows computer.
So far I found that Flashtool will be able to unlock my bootloader - but will that be enough to flash SuperSU.zip in order to gain root?

Or is there some other way I overlooked so far? Please help an Xperia noob to make the first steps safely :D

I appreciate all advice, links, ...

[Q] Any way to gain write-access to SD on 4EXT Touch Recovery? topic

My phone (Evo 3D CDMA) got corrupted and stuck in a bootloop. This has happened before (more often than I care to count) and I know how to fix it, but it requires temporarily moving some files on the SD card and editing a backup made by 4EXT Recovery.

Problem is, I don't currently have access to a SD card reader. I tried mounting the SD card as USB Storage on a desktop PC, but while I could read it just file, Windows complained that I had no write-access when I tried to move, delete, or edit any files.

I looked and Googled everywhere but couldn't find information on 4EXT mounting USB Storage as read-only or gaining write access. Is there any way to write to the SD card over 4EXT?
