[Q] Overheating issues since going Franco topic

So I've had a lot of issues with my nexus 5 randomly rebooting and decided it was time to do a complete factory reset on it. Since I had been running stock, unrooted, locked bootloader since launch, I also decided it was time to unlock, root, and switch to Franco to see if it would improve things.

Now before, when I was charging my phone in my car, on my dashboard mount, while running Waze and driving in sunlight without AC (mine's dead), my phone would sometimes overheat. I'd know because it was hot to the touch, my battery widget would show overheat status, and it would stop charging. It would still FUNCTION, though.

Since my wipe/root/Franco change, though, it no longer reacts the same way. Now it simply gets so hot that it begins to freeze or fail to respond to normal functions and then eventually reboots itself, one time putting itself into a boot loop from the heat until I stepped in, forced it to the bootloader and powered it off until it cooled down.

Any idea why this change to Franco (I'm assuming it's the difference and not merely rooting, since that shouldn't change anything) would cause this, and what sort of settings I should adjust? I changed CPU temp threshold from 60 down to 52 in FKU, but that's done either nothing, or simply avoided the boot loop issue I had before. Do I need to lower that further? It's not even clear what that setting does. Anything else I can do?

Strongly considering going back to stock kernel to test further, but I know it's a slight pain to remove Franco due to all the roots, plus I wanted its improvements.

[Q] Note 3 Overheating and Fast Battery Drain!? topic

Okay aside from me not having a computer to be able to develop on I still use my Note 3 and yes I am a flashaholic so I do continue to test other developers ROMs and find something that works for me. I am having some really bad battery drain issues on my Note 3 and it gets VERY hot.. i mean like really hot! First off let me say that I don't have warranty on it so i can't send it back to get another one. Whenever I use the phone for pretty much anything it starts to get hot and then battery drains like 20% every 20 min or so. I've tried flashing multiple ROMs and even using stock.. yeah STOCK. But each and everything that I have tried just doesn't help. I am at the point of like smashing my phone on the wall or something lol. Please if you guys have any suggestions please let me know. If i can't get this thing fixed then I will no longer be a Samsung Fanboy (that's a lie) lol. But thanks in advanced!

[Q] Processor overheating & battery draining due to USB mass storage mode. topic

A while ago after transfering some files to/from my PC via USB mass storage mode I unplugged the USB cable without doing a Safe Disconnect on the PC. Immediately after this, the processor (or something in the lower right corner) on my Droid 3 started overheating and draining the battery very quickly, as if I was running some very pretentious 3D game or something.

I found some discussions on the Net that lead me to look under Settings / Applications / Battery use to find that an application called "Media" was overusing the processor and causing the overheating and drainage, so I force-stopped that one and the problem went away.

But now every time I connect the phone to a PC in USB mass storage mode, I get the same problem and after I'm done transfering files I have to force-stop the "Media" application. (This is even if I use Safe Disconnect or whatever it's called on the PC.)

I've seen some other suggestion today that I should try the same operations with the SD card pulled out, but the same thing happens even in the absence of the SD card.

Does someone know how I can reset/reinstall the "Media" application or server that handles USB mass storage mode without resetting the whole thing to factory settings or reinstalling the whole Minimoto image?
