lost folders and contents topic

I'm a new user to gmail. I've set up sub-folders to my Work folder on my ipad using the gmail app. When I access my account using a different computervia the gmail.com addrress, my subfolders and the mail therein is not there. Can I retrieve folders and mail via gmail.com?
