Hello everybody, i took the 4.4.2 update from verizon back in February. i realize that there are ways to s-off via a java card, but i am not willing to do that. Im fine with spending the just dont want to have to mail it because this phone is my every-day phone so i would need it. my theory, with this phone being almost 2 months old is that i could contact Verizon and make a complaint about the purple camera tint problem as i do have that. im hoping the refurbished phone i get would come with 4.1.2 or 4.3 because when i picked this phone up new from the verizon store back in January it came with 4.1.2. Do you think this is a good idea or not as i will not get a "new" htc one but refurbished phones are just like new as i have had many before. Also, there is probably not gonna be a exploit released for awhile and im not fine with waiting till August.

[Q] Nexus 5(JA) Differences? topic

I am going to be moving to Japan in about a month and had a quick question. From what I understand there is only 2 versions of it (820 for us & 821 rotw). I can pick up a Nexus 5 821 here for fairly cheap right now and just wanted to verify that the phone will work in Japan before I did so. I understand that using it in the US I would probably be limited to 3G which I could live with for the next few weeks if it gives me the opportunity to setup my phone before leaving and just swapping the sim & apn settings.

I guess my question is; Are all unlocked LG-D821 models the same or is the LG-D821(JA) different in some way that would affect its usage? Also, would the unlocked D821 be able to access the Japan play store with just the sim change or would I need to re-flash for that?

OR Is all of this just going to cause me a headache and I should just wait until I get there to buy one? :silly:

Hi all.

Have a annoying problem on my hands here.
Recently, my Sony xperia s, restarted and said that I had inserted a new sim card.
When in actual fact I have a protective case on the rear of my phone.

So I don't see why my phone thinks that it has a new sim in.
I'm not doing anything with the phone that is out of the ordinary.

The company i work in allows only Samsung phones - which is ridiculous since it's all android.

I have Xperia P and i want to use it as a company phone (to have access to email etc) - i do not want to continue using Samsung!

They gave me the S3 mini... :(

Is there a way so i can make my XP look like it's S3 mini? What would need to be changed? How would i do it?

There is no special software involved for company emails, only Mobile iron & Touchdown apps which are both on the play store.

This would really help me in the long run! Some day i want to upgrade to Xperia Z1 Compact and not use Samsung...

CentOS 6.5 / SPEC file topic

I have been trying to compile an RPM manually using the SPEC file that is
contained in the source tarball from Python.org's website. I have tried
multiple versions and they all seem to fail. I have tried the latest 3.4.0
release, 3.3.5 release, and 3.2.5 release. It appears the SPEC file

help needed urgent topic

hi i just flashed i and updated to the lastest twrp which went well then i flashed the boot.img for aicp kk and did a backup of my rom as i was going to update to kitkat but the backup failed i then went to hboot to reflash the boot.img to my original rom so i could boot my phone up to free some space on my sd card to try again but suddenly my pc started installing the drivers after which my pc rebooted after it settled i went back to my phone and hboot woulnt responed so i hard rebooted my phone and now it just keeps rebooting i try to go to hboot and it just carries on i dont know what to do if anyone can help i would really apprecite it thank you

Battery life. topic

How's everybody's battery life doing since you've had the new one? Mine has been pretty amazing so far. Haven't been using it hardcore but still using normally like how I used my older m7. Instagram, xda, updating apps, little gaming here and there, play music, camera and have gotten 30 hours off my first full charge all while on 4g, didn't turn wifi on once. Here's a screen shot of my usage. That flat lines on the graph is when I was sleeping. What's everybody else been getting?

Hi, don't know if this is the right place, but can someone make an app that has active display notifications when the device gets a notification and senses movement like th M8? but since the M7 doesnt have the magnetic sensor, the screen could display the dot matrix illusion made by the M8 dot case

Immediate "Call ended" problem. Setting? topic

I've noticed that mine does the "immediate call ended" action when I try to dial a number with 1 in front of it. For example "1 555-555-5555" or "+1 555-555-5555" will result in an immediate "call ended" while (555) 555-5555 will dial fine.

Many of my imported contacts from years of phone swaps have the "1" or "+1" stored as part of the number. Also most "call" links on websites have the 1 prefix built into the number too. For example, yesterday I Googled a VW Dealer looking for a part. The search results came up with the local dealer and a link to "call" which would immediately get "call ended". After deleting the "1" in front of the number then the call goes through fine.

Anyone know of a setting that would change this behavior? I searched but no luck.

Is the back of the tablet scratch resistent / self healing or have I just jinxed myse topic

So I've had my notepro a little over a month, and the back looks pristine. The other day it got slid along a rough concrete floor, and I thought I saw scratches. I was unable to inspect it closely at the time and didn't want to make a big deal of it. Today I was looking at the back and it looks pristine.

Now, I keep it in a smart cover case about 50% of the time, but before I had the case I travelled with it cross country where it had the usual share of getting jammed into my bag quickly etc.

Is the back of this case self-healing to some extent like the LG flex, or is it just incredible resilient? I am expecting a skinomi skin for the back cover, but I don't anticipate it will stick very well.

Just wondering if the digitizer of the phone extended into the black area on the face of the phone where the HTC logo is, if so, would it be possible to produce a screen protector with button outlines on it that would go over this black area and mod the software so that it detected touch in those areas. [Q] Heaphone issue 4.4 topic

Hello Community,

I have recently updated my Note 2 from Macksrom to Carbon Rom 4.4. The upgrade is awesome, very fast, looks pretty. Just all good, till i plugged in my headphones.

Now, I am quite adept at changing the rom on my phone, done this many times, and never had this issue before. So my question to you is, is anyone else having issues with their headphones on kit kat?

Tech stuff:

When rom was installed, data, cache, and dalvik were wiped. The proper gapps was installed. I use CWM.

When playing music on my speaker, it works just fine. When i plug the headphones in it does not work unless i'm at the home screen. When I try to open an app the sound is gone, when i check notifications sound is gone, and when i lock the device, guess what sound is gone. I can do all the aforementioned tasks with out a problem when playing music through the speaker. Just can't with the headphones.

Now i have tried a few things to resolve the issue, i have uninstalled the music application, I have removed the dsps i have in place, i have rebooted the phone numerous times with headphones plugged in and out. Tried different pair of headphones, and yield same result.

So for now i've run dry, I would not want to downgrade to macks rom again. But if my headphones won't work on my device i will do so.

Any input would be helpful.

No doubt this is a question that has already been asked and answered. However, since I can't find it, I'm forced to bring this up one more time. I'm getting ready to shop for a new smartphone, and I am trying to choose between the S4 and the S5. It is my intent to get an unlocked phone, and I use primarily AT&T's networks. There are multiple variants of each of these phones out there, some of which will work for 4g LTE in the US on AT&T's networks, and some which will not. So, my first question is which models, or variants, of each of these devices do I want to consider? My second question is one of is it worth it to pay the premium for the S5 over the S4. I would have thought my timing was such that prices on the S4 would be dropping around now, just like they did on the S3 when the S4 came out. But I'm not seeing much in the way of a reduction in prices. If it's less than 0 premium for the S5, I guess I might as well bite the bullet. So, any direction or help will be greatly appreciated.

Gmail wont stop syncing topic

A few weeks ago I noticed my battery wouldn't last more than 6 hours. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that gmail was the cause because it wouldn't stop syncing. Confirmed of course after deleting gmail for a couple of days.

I'm creating this thread to provide the Samsung and LG custom emoji created for their respective 4.4 firmwares. This will change your stock emoji look to Samsung's or LG's system wide!!

The zips contain the ttf emoji file for the OEM, along with a fallback_fonts.xml edit to point to the new emoji file, and should work in any AOSP/CM or similar ROMS. Simply flash one of the following zips in your custom recovery

in case you have issues, don't have/want to use a custom recovery or have a ROM/firmware other than AOSP/CM, you can extract the ttf file from the zip and manually apply the mod.

Urgent: E988 unrooted, stock rom, India, acting "weird" after boot topic

Previous help requests by me told how i removed my memory card from mobile as service centre guy told me about possible battery drain.

Today i was little bored so i put my MMC in phone, rebooted and went to settings. Suddenly i see weird settings style on my phone (like samsung galaxy types) Attachment 2653997

Again not to mention, i have stock unrooted rom so can't say of any modifications! But when i try to go to "about phone" section, it force stops. Attachment 2653988

Over and above, i never saw this font 'bykzongyulpen' earlier ever. Now i am seeing it Attachment 2653992

Due to my sata credit limitations, i checked '2g network only' in data connectivity. Now i cannot even go there.

An urgent and immediate help will be appreciated!

[Q] SIMLOCK - Xperia Z1 C6903 topic

Hi,

I was trying to install the deodexed version of 4.4.2 Stock rom for my C6903
But it stuck at SONY logo,
so i flashed the older 4.2.2 FTF (C6903_14.1.G.1.534_1276-4314_R2A.ftf)
And now my phone is SIMLOCKED what the hell.
It did not have a simlock before, because in Belgium they don't do that.

Is there a way to get rid of it without unlocking bootloader to get full control of device kernel and ****...

FYI - I have a TA Backup of a working 4.2.2 and also of a working 4.4.2, might that help me getting rid of the simlock?

[Question/Help] Un-rooted sprint tab 3 7.0... topic

Hello all it's been awhile since I visited the xda forums so I apologize if this is the wrong place for this post in advance. So anyway I bought a samsung galaxy tab 3 7.0 from sprint about three months ago and decided to root it and installed titanium backup pro so I could freeze a lot of the bloatware that came pre-installed. I've been hearing/reading about kitkat update coming to the tab 3 7.0 on Sprint so I decided to un-root today so I could do an ota update when it is finally available. Everything went fine but I did notice that all the bloatware I froze are still frozen (turned off) and pretty much every other change I made still remained the same but I am able to check for updates and even had a samsung firmware available. Before when it was still rooted is just said that my device was modified and there was no firmware because of this. So is this normal or what? I mean not that I mind because the reason I rooted the tab was for that sole purpose and not for custom roms. And if I did want to turn or unfreeze these apps how would I go about doing now? I'm just curious in case I need to take it back to sprint for warranty issues. Thank you for your time.

I have a bad habit of frequently clearing all apps from my recents
I somewhere read that it's not good (can't remember where)
So is it worth killing apps frequently ?? Does this effect battery life too??

Recovery for Y Duos? topic

I have a galaxy y duos and I can't enter into recovery mode and I don't have any rom on the phone. Download mode is working and I can use Odin. Where can I find Clockworkmod recovery to flash it via odin?

Toothpaste and scratch removal topic

Just used toothpaste to remove a scratch off of my touchscreen...it worked! The LG FLEX screen is plastic because of the curved screen....but this works on the glass screens too. Apply a little too the screen and buff it in a circular motion for about 5 min, preferably with a micro fiber cloth (I used the disposable paper cloths that I use too clean my glasses with). Wipe it off and clean the screen with a damp cloth...this works on light scratches...would probably just make deep scratches appear less pronounced...

I have the quick window case but it got scratched in the window area of the case by my pants button on the back pocket....I guess I better invest in a screen protector although I'm not a big fan of them or cases....I just liked the functionality and look off the phone with this case...

nook keeps waking up, killing battery topic

I am now on my second nook hd (upgraded from a 7" to a 10")

booth nooks have had the same issue, where i turn the screen off (sleep mode) and then for whatever reason the screen wakes up, (and the lock screen is shown) but it never goes back asleep and eventually kills the battery.

this behavior is random. and doesn't happen all the time.

Once i find the nook turned on, i can make it go back to "sleep" and it will mostly do that.

The nooks are on stock firmware, have most recent frimware and are not rooted.

the case that is used, is not a smart case.

the nook only has 2 applications installed. Astro file manager and bsplayer. using nova launcher

it is kept 99% in airplane mode.


this has been my only android device that doesnt turn off the screen when the lock screen is displayed. (on a side note this is also my only android device that is running stock firmware)


any ideas?

Spotify not saving to external SD topic

Ok so I'm not sure if the SD is mounted in a different way to the way they used to. But Spotify is meant to save to the drive with the most space, but it keeps on trying to download content to my internal 16gb rather than my almost empty 64gb sd card!

Anyone else have this problem or any ideas on how to fix it? :(

hi. im kinda new to Lg phones . its infact my first LG phone ever.

first off, i will get something cleared out to all. im disappointed at almost no support from LG! its been a year and still 4.1? no updates what so ever? this was their flagship phone that was primarily focused to compete with Note 2 and even S4 but look where they are now! 4.4 KK!


now to the point of thread, i just got out of misery of soft brick. and just today i got the V5.5 rom of THIS rom.

out of curiosity i downloaded some benchmarks. here are my scores.

after looking at these scores i was like WTF is this??? guys any help, that are these scores NORMAL for LG OGP or is it my device???
i mean my Note 1, i remember, had better scores in Benchmarkpi than this! :eek:

also another problem. i have installed the LG drivers for the mobile in the pc and also lg pc suite is installed. but when i connect this piece of **** to PC, it connects and disconnects continuously. it does not even show up in Computer. even after i have reinstalled the drivers like 6 times, its sitll not connecting. it connects when ever it desires. this phone is real ****. i ****ing hate it now.

[Q] Have google hangouts default to contacting via SMS topic

I currently just use google hangout as my sms service, but I find it very annoying that every time I go to send a text I have to choose my contact and then scroll down to their phone number otherwise it will try to contact them via hangouts. A lot of times the contact doesn't have hangouts and I accidentally choose that method and realize and hour or so later when they haven't replied.

Is there anyway to have it default to contacting via SMS, otherwise I may have to install handcent or something.

I know a couple of members have upgraded from the Note 3 but I'm still undecided.

I've become a little bored of the Note now because I've had it since launch but I'm a big fan of carrying spare batteries and the screen size.

Those of you that's upgraded, are you missing anything from the Note? I'm going away on holiday soon and I won't have a tablet so will the M8 suffice to watch a few quick movies etc?
