Z1 call quality topic

Not happy with the call quality, outgoing mic, on my 6902 on AT&T. It's quite garbled. Is this a case of the phone not getting LTE or is this the case with all Z1's. Is there a setting I'm missing? TIA. Btw I can hear fine on my end.
