Galaxy Mega 6.3 Sprint Version : SPH-L600 Stock firmwares with root: Flashable Zips topic

I do not own this phone.

This thread will provide custom recovery ( CWM/TWRP ) flashable zip files of the stock frmware without knox software. This way you need not upgrade using OTA and hence will be able to move between stock and custom firmware if need to.

If you use OTA to upgrade to the latest firmware, your bootloader will be upgraded to facilitate knox. Once updated there is no going back. The roms in this thread will help you overcome this issue.

The only prerequisite is that you are not already running a knox enabled bootloader. You can find this out by going into the download mode and checking if knox entries are shown.

You will have the following advantages.
  • Bootloader is not touched, hence any compatible rom can be flashed, including custom roms

  • Only Samsung knox files are removed

  • Root & Busybox

  • Stock kernel

Procedure
  • Download the Odin version of Philz recovery or my custom twrp recovery and flash.

  • Reboot to recovery first else custom recovery will be replaced by stock recovery.

  • Flash the ROM zip file

  • Reboot and Njoy...

As an additional step, you can flash the modem that comes with the ROM. The procedure to flash the modem is given below.
  • Use Odin v3.04

  • Untick Autoreboot

  • Flash modem

  • Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)

  • Flash Modem once more

  • Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.

  • If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

Downloads

All files can be downloaded from my Mega folder. Choose the mega link and select SPH-L600 STOCK FIRMWARE folder.

Omnirom stuck in bootanimation for Galaxy Mega 6.3 topic

Hi,

I have been trying to get omnirom to work for the Galaxy Mega 6.3, but its stuck in bootanimation. The first build I tried worked, but none of the build that I compiled this month worked.

The logcat shows displayeventreceiver / activedisplay errors mainly.

Code:

E/DisplayEventReceiver(  890): Display event receiver pipe was closed or an error occurred.  events=0x9
E/FlpHardwareProvider(  890): Error hw_get_module 'flp': -2
W/InputDispatcher(  890): channel '418a3790 ActiveDisplayView (server)' ~ Consumer closed input channel or an error occurred.  events=0x9
E/InputDispatcher(  890): channel '418a3790 ActiveDisplayView (server)' ~ Channel is unrecoverably broken and will be disposed!
W/InputDispatcher(  890): channel '418ac6b8 StatusBar (server)' ~ Consumer closed input channel or an error occurred.  events=0x9
E/InputDispatcher(  890): channel '418ac6b8 StatusBar (server)' ~ Channel is unrecoverably broken and will be disposed!

Can someone help me?

[Q] S-View Mod on 6.3 Mega topic

I was just wondering, instead of the Black S-View layout that we have currently.. Is it possible to make changes to the layout of the Screen.

Can we have scrollabe screens (like on the Note 3 S-view)
Can we use wallpaper as a background instead of the black.
Can we change the Size and Color of the time and date and the music title tracks?

It would actually be great if we had an interactive screen like the Note3 sview on our mega 6.3..

What do you guys think about it ?

P.S : (I know thers an S-View App in play store that we could use to change the colour of the clock and date, but it sucks as it uses the proximity sensor instead of the Hall Sensor in our phones)

Does any one know which file in the System ROM takes care of the screen layout of the S-view on the Stock Builds ?
Any ideas or informations would be truly appreciated :good:

[Q]Soft-bricked USCC Mega 6.3 LTE topic

So after reading up in the forum a bit, I learned that I'm not supposed to try flash the ROM with odin before rooting.
But it happened. Now the phone won't boot and gets stuck at "SAMSUNG" screen.
Trying to go to recovery mode will only reboot the phone.
Before I lose the access to the recovery mode, I did the factory reset thing (wiping data and partition)

What should I do to unbrick it? (The model is SCH-R960U)

trade for mega 6.3 topic

would trading my note 2 for mega 6.3 be a reasonable trade?
should i add cash or they add?

thx

[Q] My Galaxy Mega has a problem. topic

I think this is the right place to post questions?

So I tried the rooting method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2355680
But it doesn't boot and stuck on "SAMSUNG" screen.
I tried using factory reset and simply trying again, but it still doesn't work.
What do I need to do to make it boot? :(

BTW the phone model is Galaxy Mega 6.3 LTE (SCH-R960).
