[Q] Is the Z1s worth getting without being able to root? topic

I'm in the market for a new phone and the only thing keeping me on the fence with the Z1s is the lack of root and despite the bounty on it, progress looks to be slowing. Can anyone make an argument for this phone on stock over an equivalently spec'd phone that can be rooted?

[Q] Possible to get AT&T 4.4.2 update on AT&T Moto X without being an AT&T customer? topic

I want to purchase a used AT&T Moto X 16GB from a private seller. I intend to use the Moto X on a 3rd party MVNO pre-paid carrier (H2O Wireless who is owned by ATT).

This is a completely stock ATT Moto X 16GB that currently runs 4.4 where both the BL and sim are locked.

Once ATT releases the official 4.4.2 after the soak testing, how will I be able to update to 4.4.2 without ATT service? Will I have to wait for someone here to hopefully post the official ATT version and then try installing via WiFi?

Or would I download it from here to a PC and then copy it to the Moto X internal storage via fastboot USB and then install via recovery?

I have asked 3 different customer reps at H2O Wireless if their network accesses AT&T's OTA updates and they were clueless. Naturally, that would be the easiest approach but I don't want to depend on them for any future Android updates.

Sms messages being spit on receiving end topic

Pardon my lack of formatting as I am posting from my device.

I have a nexus 5 (running latest PA nightly) and my girlfriend has a moto x (running stock). We both use the pay version of go sms pro.the issue is that my messages are being split on her end. When her other friends message her the messages come through whole, but my messages to her and hers to me, all come through in chunks. Both of us have checked our go sms settings but can't figure this out.

Any help would be great

[Q] Why am i being shown an update i already have??? topic

I'm using a C6902 xperia z1, 4.3 JB, (bootloader unlocked, rooted), 14.2.A.0.290.

I'm still getting a notification for updating the firmare to a version i already have... any clue how to remove notification WITHOUT CLEARING THE DATA FOR UPDATE CENTER?

Not being able to access Faux Sound app topic

My faux sound app says I do not have the proper root permissions for this app to work which is so weird because I am rooted and root permissions are surely on.

I am on slimkat with latest version of elemental x kernel. Anyone know a solution as to why this is happening?

Got a text from Sprint about a "new" network being completed topic

So I attached a screenshot of the text I got, I'm wondering who else got that text today. It seems pretty generic to me... my roommate is with Sprint and he got the same text today. We're in Ft. Gordon, GA (Augusta area).
Oddly enough, I lost data connection for hours last night on both my devices and so did everyone else around here with Sprint. Now normally ill get 3G indoors and occasionally I'd get 4GLTE inside. I always got 4GLTE outside. When I woke up this morning I noticed my phone keeps switching between 3G and 4GLTE every few minutes... it's still doing that now, it's been happening all day. One good thing is that my data has been faster all day. Even with 1 bar 3G it's been moving way better than usual. Don't get me wrong, its nowhere near Tmos or Verizon's speed in the area. But it hasnt given me a problem all day and it's moving rather nicely lol
Anyway, anyone else get this text and/or notice weird data changes?
