[Q] New Note 3 owner from Nexus 5 - have questions (Greenify, Xposed, etc.) topic

I have the Nexus devices (5 and 7) and it was a breeze to to configure the phone (rooting, etc.) and easier because there is only one version of the phone. Now I have the T-Mobile Note 3, I tried to read as much as I can but there are so many questions due to the many variables on the phone (carrier version, locked bootloader, etc.) So I thought I will ask those I couldn't find the answers.

My phone is rooted using Kingosoft, KNOX is not tripped and on stock ROM with T-Mobile SIM card.

Q1. Text-to-speech
How do I change the this to use Google's instead of Samsung S-Voice? When I got to Settings, only S-Voice is selectable. I want to change it for navigation purposes

Q2. Home button - double click
Any change to configure this for something else, like Google Search? I've frozen S-Voice so double-clicking the button now does..nothing.

Q3. Disable My Magazine swipe-up
Quite often I accidentally swiped-up. Any way to disable this?

Q4. WTH is Beaming Service for Beep'nGo??
Went to Google Play --> My Apps and there is a new update for Beep'nGo. I did not install this, but I found out I cannot disable this - I could not find it under Titanium or Application Manager. How do I disable this? I am sure it's running in the background and eating battery of some sort

Q5. What is safe to Greenify?
From Nexus 5, there are just a few built-in apps in Greenify. But with the Note 3, there are tons of them, not including the apps I installed. Which one of these I can disable? See screenshot below.

Hey guys ,why does no KitKat Rom theme it the right way? i use CM based themes everything changes except for the Battery Icon remains the same it just wont change anyone else havin this problem !? (btw. i tried many KitKat based Roms had the same issue over and over again)

[GUIDE] Changing boot_logo on Umeox x201 (AW-414/420, TrueSmart, etc...) topic

Basics: (Root required)

--MediaTek android has three boot screens. 1st one is just an image and it is present in logo.bin. But till now, there is no way to mod logo.bin.

--The second screen is also an image. This is image is from boot_logo in /media/images folder. You can change this easily by following this guide !!

--The third one is the boot animation. It is present in /media/ folder and it is of the same type of all android devices. If you want to change, download normal android boot animations with the correct size of your device.


So, here is the guide:

1. Get a copy of boot_logo from /media/images to your computer. Rename it to boot_logo.bin (Root required)
   


2. Download Image_Search_Editor.zip from the attachments. Extract it to a folder.
   


3. Now open Image Search Editor.exe
   


4. Select the file, boot_logo.bin to open.
   


5. Now select 16 colors from the left side panel.
   


6. Now click on the BMP button on the toolbar on the top.
   


7. Now resize the image by clicking : Size --> 'Set Window Size'
   


8. Now resize the image to that of your phone's screen size/resolution (example: 320x480)
   


9. Now you will see the full image.
   


10. Now with the help of photoshop or any other tool, open the image that you want to replace. Resize the image to same size of your screen/screen resolution (example: 320x480)
    


11. Save the image as a normal bmp image
    


12. Now, in Image Search Editor, select: Edit-->Replace by BMP. Select the bmp image that you saved.
    


13. Now click Apply
    


14. Then, go to File-->Save as BIN. Save it.
    


15. Rename the newly saved .bin file to boot_logo and replace it your /media/images folder and reboot.
    
    


16. Voila !!! The second screen is changed !!!
