[Q] S3 (i9300) Encryption Failed topic

Hi guys,
My friend gave me her S3 to fix because there was a problem with it. She said that she was on YouTube when it froze, she took the battery out and when it turned back on, a message came up saying "Encryption Failed. Unable to complete encryption due to interruption. Perform factory data reset (erasing all your data) before use....." There's a button that says "Reset Device" but when I press it, it doesn't do anything. She has NOT rooted her device or tampered with it at all, nor has she tried to encrypt her data, so this is quite unusual. I tried to put it into Recovery Mode so I could perform a factory reset by holding power, Vol Up and Home. As I hold these buttons, a message pops up at the bottom of the screen saying "Device storage is full. Delete some items", although my friend says that she had recently factory reset her phone and there isn't much stuff on her phone. The phone then restarts as it should. It shows the android with the spinning shape thing in his stomach. Then it stops and the phone restarts again back to the "Encryption Failed" screen. I have tried many times to get into Recovery Mode but it wont work. I researched online and found that others say that they also cannot access stock recovery but can access TWRP and CWM. I can get into Download Mode, so it thought that maybe I could try to install one of the two recovery modes. I first tried to root the device using Odin3, however, it keeps failing.

This is what it says:

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5 is valid.

On the device it says

I really don't know what to do and would appreciate it very much if someone could help me. Thanks in advance :)

Pattern lock wipe after 10 failed attempts disable? topic

So I'm used to the asop lock screen in which I can have a pattern lock on it to keep my friends from messing with my phone. With this one it just means they're going to try 11 times and wipe my phone.

Or if my cousins kids grab it and want to use the pattern lock as a game it will get wiped. (seriously anything like that is a game for a 5 year old).

I'm amazed they still didn't add a way too sense to disable that bit of the lock screen. I just want a password. I don't want it to wipe itself at all...

/frustrating

[Q]Root failed - HTC One (Rogers) topic

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue with rooting my HTC - I followed all of the steps on multiple guides with no luck. Here's the breakdown:
  • I have successfully unlocked the bootloader

  • I have tried flashing both the TWRP and the CWM ROMs

  • I have used the http://androidsu.com/superuser/ site on my phone to get the Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip file

  • I tried installing said file using both TWRP and CWM, both did not work

  • When booting into the OS and running Root Checker, it says "Sorry! This device does not have proper root access."

In the youtube video linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863 many comments are from users describing the same issue I'm having, though searches on google and on the XDA forums have found nothing that has worked. At this point, I am not sure where to proceed.

Right now I am running Android Version 4.4.2 with HTC Sense version 5.5, and the HTC SDK API level is 5.68. I suspect that my android version is the problem, but before I go delving into how to downgrade, I wanted to check to see if anyone has any advice. Hopefully someone has come across this before, but if not, at least there'll be a searchable record of the problem for other users. :)

Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to provide.

SuperSU binary "Installation Failed" Error Fix topic

This is the scenario that i have encountered during rooting my htc one XL for fun. But i have encountered a problem of SuperSU binary "installation failed" when trying to update the binary.

Here i am going to share the solution that have been tried out accidentically.

Premises:
Device : HTC One XL ( i think other device may also counter this problem too when they trying to root with the ZIp version SuperSU apk.
Device's bootloader is unlocked (HTC required, i dont think samsung need this step)
recovery mode Clockworkmod is installed (i think all devices need this mod in order to install apk in the sd_card)
SuperSU apk is installed in recovery mode by install app in the sd_card

Consequence:
The superSU is installed successfully in the phone, you can see the app located in the home screen.
When you try to click in the app, it prompt it requires to update some binary files of the phone. however it will just return "Installation Failed".
Your root access is not stable.
For example:
You might contain root access by using root browser (on google play)
But you couldn't "su" in the linux terminal emulator (on google play)
Also you couldn't "su" by using android shell in the android sdk tools's .adb shell

Solution:
Below is the steps i performed and it is worked.
  1. Update the latest version SuperSU in the google play

  2. Afterwards, it will prompt the binary update screen again

  3. Choose the Txxx/CWB instead of Normal

  4. My device cannot automatically boot up the recovery mode, thus i manually started the recovery mode

  5. binary will be updated when you go in recovery mode

Importance Note:
Actually I am not success in point 5 (binary will be updated when you go in recovery mode).
It means that the binary doesn't update when SuperSU is still the latest version (updated on google store).
and if you have also encountered this circumstance. reboot in the phone again, in the latest version of SuperSU, selected update binary by Txxx/CWB, and then uninstall the latest version of SuperSU by normal apps uninstallation (you can never able to uninstall the old version SuperSU in the phone normally because its installed in the recovery mode).

Now you can boot into the Recovery mode, it will update the binary automatically, And you can grant the actual root access for your phone after reboot the phone again.

[Q] Failed Cyanogen install, now phone won't boot topic

I unlocked the bootloader with no problem and loaded Clockworkmod custom recovery without a hitch. When I downloaded the nightly of CM11, it failed halfway through installation. I tried using other builds and two different custom recoveries. Open recovery didn't fail, but the phone just stayed at the blue CyanogenMod screen and never booted.

Now, I have no idea what to do, and I don't know how to just return to stock. I honestly rooted just so I could WiFi tether in infrastructure mode, and now I can't even make a phone call. What can I do?

[Q] Failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument) Error topic

While trying to flash back to stock from a custom ROM, I made it to the Samsung splash logo, and got stuck there. Went into recovery and saw the following:

E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)
can't mount '/data' (invalid argument)

[The Applied CSC code is ATT and successfully applied multi-CSC stuff appear in Manual Mode]

E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)
can't mount '/data' (invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)

Now what must I do to get everything back to the normal? Please help! :(

Soft Brick after failed 4.3 OTA topic

I've been running 4.2.2, rooted, SafeStrap'd and SuperSU. Today, I went back to stock ROM (I switch back and forth, between stock and Hyperdrive), I forgot I had rebooted during a forced update for 4.3. Well, update finished downloading, and automatically went to install, of course, with my phone, it always fails @ 29-30%. Phone went to start back up, went thru the SafeStrap and stayed at the AT&T logo. Pulled battery and went to SS, and activated Slot 2 (Hyperdrive). Phone just boot looped thru the SS and then shut off and so on and so forth. So I tried to do a factory reset, and that failed. So I tried to restore backup, in SS and that failed. I'm thinking that even though the 4.3 update failed, it somehow put enough of info, into the bootloader, to change it to a 4.3. I'm going to try to ABD MF3, then MI2 and if that fails, ML2.
Just wanted to give you a heads up....seems AT&T is hellbent on pushing this locked down update through.

Stuck on boot screen, restore failed! topic

I have been running liquid smooth 2.9 for about a year now with no issues. Last night my battery died and I plugged it in and tried to boot up immediately as I needed it. We'll it shut off again and I let it sit for a few minutes then tried to reboot. Now it just stays stuck in the boot splash screen. I can boot into TWRP but get a failure when restoring. It's telling me E: no packages found to fix. Is this a corrupt backup file or something worse? I can get into Odin or TWRP. I have an older backup saved on my PC, is it worth trying to move that to ext sd card. Thanks in advance for any thoughts

[Q] Wont boot after failed .zip flash topic

Hi all,

I have an issue with my D802 int LG G2.

I attempted to flash the 4.4 update from this thread via CMW recovery however part way through the install, the phone turned off and tried to restart.

As a result, the phone now only shows the LG logo and the LED changes colour constantly.

I cannot seem to get it to boot into a recovery mode, nor download mode..

Any ideas? I've had a search around but there doesn't seem to be too much help..

FYI, I can access the 'hard reset' menu by holding Vol - and power twice on boot, but that seems about it.

[q] unlock token check failed topic

As mentioned, recently I sent my phone to HTC to replace the camera, I dont know how they broken my mainboard.and now the mainboard is replaced. Everytime I tried to unlock bootloader (old token or newly grapped token), it appears that UNLOCK TOKEN CHECK FAILED? So, am I really unable to root my phone anymore? Or is there any alternative way to root it? I saw a post mentioning that restore it with RUU will help, does it really do so?
Sorry that is this a re-post or in a wrong section

Xperia Z1 update failed topic

Hi ya'll

I bought a Xperia Z1 second hand on eBay and found that even though its stock ROM and bootloader is locked - its rooted with some dodgy chinese superuser app. It is running 4.2.2 and keeps saying update available but it keeps failing when I try to install an OTA update that seems to be available.

1. Is it failing cause its rooted?
2. How do I unroot it so I will get the 4.3 OTA?

Thanks in advance.

:good:

Camera failed error! topic

Hi all,

I have an ATT samsung galaxy s3, out of warranty period. My phone's camera has stopped working entirely since 2 months. Its really frustrating! I have tried everything from going back to stock roms then custom roms.

A little history:

- I installed an app ipcam to monitor my baby, I left the cam on with flashlight and was gone for half an hour, since then I had cam freezing probs until one day it stopped working.
- I was trying a lot of options and one day the camera worked only for 5 mins. then when i tried again it was not working.

Please help!
:(
I am currently on android 4.3, Intergalactic ROM 4.1 and MJB baseband.

I also had my sd card corrupted during that same time and have started using a new memory card since 1 week.

[Q] TWRP restore failed? topic

I recently made a nandroid backup and unlocked my bootloader. Now I have my bootloader unlocked, I want to restore my data. When I goto restore in twrp recovery, and press restore, it reaches up to restoring data then says backup: failed. One thing that might effect this is when I moved the backup folder from my phone to my computer, I only dragged the folder with the files in it (the one named after the date). Is something I should be doing before restoring?
