I337UCUFNB1 4.4 KitKat Root-Workaround (SS ROM) topic

The following procedure is not a root method in the "traditional" sense, e.g. Saferoot, Kingo. This is a workaround to our current inability to root 4.4 NB1. However the end result of this process is a 100% Stock, Rooted, NB1 device.

There has been a big demand for this process which I have now simplified as much as possible so that everyone can enjoy a Rooted, 100% Stock NB1 4.4. ROM. Proceed at Your Own Risk.

Special thanks to @Michael3214 @rebel1699 @Maribou @dolph8886 @Surge1223 @jeboo for discoveriing that it was possible to downgrade from MK2 to NB1 and a very special thanks to [B @rebel1699[/B] for leading the way and being the first to flash a 4.4 SS Custom ROM on our device. Without all of them this workaround would not be possible.

Here it is: I337UCUFNB1_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM

In order to avoid issues with this ROM follow only the instructions outlined below. Do not apply installation instructions or files used for other ROM's or guides as doing so may cause issues:

1. Place the ROM zip in ext sdcard.
2. Download the I337_NB1toMK2_Downgrade file, extract the .tar file and flash in PDA slot in Odin to obtain a semi-working(no-wifi) MK2.
3. Use your favorite root method to root MK2 then install Safestrap (see Safestrap thread for how to install and use SS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2448925).
4. Once Safestrap is installed boot into Safestrap, perform an advanced wipe and wipe everything except ext sdcard.
5. Flash the ROM zip in Stock Slot.
6. Hit "Home," then reboot from Safestrap into Download Mode and flash the following file using the PDA slot in Odin: I337_Stock_Partitions

Once complete the phone will apply an update to cache, then reboot and pause on the white AT&T splash screen for about 1-2 minutes before completely booting into the ROM. Done!

- To flash a different 4.4 Custom ROM after flashing this ROM you must first flash the MK2_Stock_Kernel in PDA slot in Odin then wipe this ROM, flash the new ROM, then flash the NB1_Stock_Kernel Refer to the new ROM's instructions for any additional requirements.
- You are also able to uninstall SS and maintain root.
- To go back to 100% factory stock, un-rooted NB1 flash the NB1 Full Odin tar file in PDA slot in Odin, or unroot from SuperSu's settings.
- Those that never took the MK2 to NB1 update can return to 100% Factory Stock MK2 by flashing the All-in-One MK2 Full Odin tar file in PDA slot in Odin.

Known Issue: Those that never took the MK2 to NB1 update may experience an issue with lockscreen settings. The issue can be resolved by flashing the NB1_Bootloader in PDA slot in Odin. However, upon doing so, you will no longer be able to return to factory stock MK2.
