if you use an absolute coloirmetry workflow you can use color
measurement tools to verify it and check where problems are
if you use a relative colorimetry or appearance system like ICC or
CIECAM02, you have to apply some math to the measurements to accomplish
the same
I doubt the math would be popular, but someone could write an ICC
compatible application to verify and check profiles so customers
wouldn't have to do math

I don't have the tools or systems to try this myself, but I might code a
library and a couple visualisation programs in C and gtk+ of color and
appearance models, nothing new, but it might keep me from spewing and
give me something to do
I could code ICC profiles and file formats in C structures
and gtk+ seems easy enough to use (its in C)
