Request- Sony Stock browser for kitkat topic

Does anyone have the Sony stock browser On kitkat? I was happily using it on jelly bean having uninstalled chrome.

But now I've updated to kitkat it's unavailable it'd be great if somebody made it available on kitkat somehow.

Am I not looking for the right application? I've been able to disable stock browsers in many other android phones, but it's not possible on the S4 apparently. This makes opening links a lot more tedious than it should be. Wish you could select a default browser like you select the messaging application.

[Q] Issues with Internet Connection: Browser works, Apps don't. topic

Hey Guys,

I am having an issue with internet connection. I am connected to my wifi but none of my applications can load anything. When I open an app all it says is "error loading" or "Look at network connection". However, I can browse on chrome with no issue. I've tried restarting the device and connecting to other networks but that hasn't help. Was hoping one of you guys may know what's wrong.

From Android 4.4., the Browser no longer syncs with desktop Chrome. This APK brings the sync back. It is needed since the mobile Chrome sucks.

Galaxy Note restarts when opening browser topic

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note phone which is rooted.

Recently, I have been having problems with my phone which restarts on two occassions:

1) When opening the full-screen stock internet browser (but NOT when opening a pop-up!).

2) When cleaning the scanned "junk" with Clean Master (but NOT while scanning!).

It doesn't matter if the phone is on battery or connected to a wall charger, I doubt it's the battery then. I have scanned my phone with several anti-malware programs and it hasn't found anything.

I haven't uninstalled any software, it just started happening all of a sudden.

Any ideas?

I have a project I'm working on for a portable business information kiosk using the iView CyberPad 420TPC. I need to be able to boot using a custom logo, and then have the device open a frameless browser that doesn't allow zooming in or out or the ability to quit the browser. First, I'm a n00b by any stretch of the imagination.

Recently flashed back to Rogers Rooted Stock ROM from liquidsmooth. With liquidsmooth I was able to click on a video (mostly mp4) link in the Browser or Facebook and have the video open in Gallery, no problems. Now, I can't watch the videos. The link will attempt to download the file and the download will inevitably fail. Tried the Firefox and Dolphin browsers, which were able to download successfully, but the downloaded files won't even play.

This seems like it may be a couple of different issues compounded.

What can I do? Is there a way to simply install the Browser that was included in the liquidsmooth build I was using and use it in the stock ROM?

now i want that browser back, i have .apk and .odex file for the internet.apk, i tried by pasting it to "/system/apk" and set permission to
"rwx", "rxx", "rxx" but still i am not able to run the default browser,
if u have solution pls post it.

Browser Bookmark Sync Issues topic

This is my first ever post on XDA after reading forever...

Anyway, I found an interesting situation where after installing Beanstalk 4.4.200, my bookmark sync was gone. I had tried out pa-gapps for a while and this is when I noticed I had no Chrome bookmarks in my Android browser. Just to make sure I went to Settings > Accounts > Google > you@google.com, the Browser option is not there! So, I updated to the newest version of Beanstalk (4.4.225) and grabbed the gapps posted by the OP. Still, no solution.

Then, I found that there is an APK that takes care of this called ChromeBookmarksSyncAdaptor.apk
I stumbled upon it by digging into the zip file for pa-gapps-full. It should be under the gapps location: system > app > ChromeBookmarksSyncAdaptor.apk
I pulled it out of the pa-gapps-full package, put it on my Infuse SDCard (thank you Dropbox!), and installed it by using Root Browser to copy the apk file into /system/app

After a reboot, the option to Sync in the Android accounts area is there. I just had to check it. Now I can see bookmarks in my Android browser.

Thought I'd share incase anyone else ran into this problem.

Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

SWE Browser topic

SWE Browser is a browser that I came across which is optimized for Snapdragon devices. My sunspider score went from ~1026ms in Google Chrome to 746ms in SWE Browser. I figured I should at least share it for those of you who primarily use your phone to web-browse. It was a project from Code Aurora but they seemed to have either abandoned it or just gave up due to lack of interest. Either way, it's extremely fast and a not-too-shabby Chrome replacement. You can thank me if you'd like but the real thanks go to Invisiblek! Find a post by him and hit the "thanks" button!
