[Q] Flashing Rom & Kernel of different version of M8? topic

Hi, thanks for reading.
I am a HongKonger. As I know, the global version of M8 is using the snapdragon801AB while Asia version is using the snapdragon801AC. I know the only different of the two cpu is simply overclocking to different frequency. Would the different make development very difficult to support the two at the same time? Or it will just be the same?
I afraid there will be less support for the Asia M8. Will this happen?

Swap motherboard 2 different S3 model topic

Hi,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S III i747 [http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att]. I tried to repair it but the glue I used to previously repair the glass was too strong and the digitizer came with it... Trying to power it and all I see is green light a part of the screen and nothing but the phone vibrate on start-up. I think the motherboard is still good.

I looked for local classified for broken screen (or used S3) but so far I wasn`t able to grab one and some times the seller are asking very high price (120$) for a phone I risk to break. I was thinking just buying a working one in good condition but that`s 200$. The idea is to swap the motherboard and sell the motherboard un-used.

I decided to check on ebay There are a lot of cheap bad esn phone on ebay with excellent screen condition but these are sprint phones (SPH-L710).

I wonder if I could still swap the motherboard and have a roger i747 phone? That would be the cheapest and easiest option for me if that`s the case.

Galaxy s4 No sound after Flashing Different Roms topic

I recently Had a problem with my Galaxy s4 Were if you flash too many roms or ones not ment for your phone Or reflashing a stock rom You could end up with out any sound or wifi.. I have figured out how to fix this problem this worked for myself. After talking with a few people I figured out how to fix this problem. What I did was headed over to www.sammobile.com and reflashed the stock rom from there and than rebooted in to recovery mode and factory reset and wiped cache rebooted the phone and worked......

Or if you have wifi just flash a different kernel for your phone....

i have a network locked n9005 (ORANGE ROMANIA)
if i flash a rom from an other operator will it work on the respective network?

Different files included in GPE and Stock ROM (zip with the files) topic

I'm not really sure wether this should go here, nor if i should put [DEV] before the title so if any mod wants to change it just change it :)
I've extracted both roms to compare the files included in each and since i don't have a lot of time i thought i could share it in case someone wants to use it, to try and make the fmradio, gallery, camera or other motorola things work on GPE rom for example, or for whatever reason.

The zip i've uploaded contains the system folder of a normal rom, but includes only the files missing in the GPE rom included in the stock rom, so if a folder is empty it's because both stock and GPE contain the same files in that folder (or files with the same name, as some files are named the same on the stock rom but have been modified).
I know the gpe rom already includes the clock, hangouts and keyboard apps too, but they're not only named different, but the motorola apps actually take up less space so i thought i could just include them in case someone wants to use them too.

If you think i should add something more to this post feel free to comment, i'll try to keep the thread updated with useful stuff found out from this.

can't boot into recovery (TWRP, CWM different flashing methods -- nothing works) topic

hey all, im stuck running the jedi elite rom (apps constantly FC, laggy, bulky) and so I downloaded AOSB rom. I booted into recovery, which was TWRP 2.6.3.8 i believe, maybe .9. I made a full backup, then I tried to install TWRP 2.7. I flashed the .zip file from the official site, then after flashing, i went to main menu, reboot, then i hit recovery. when it went to reboot into recovery, it got stuck on the black startup screen, it says

this didnt bother me, as thats what it normally says when it boots up, but this time it was stuck. I downloaded Odin 3.09, then downloaded the TWRP 2.7 .tar and installed that, it booted into my old rom, and i tried to boot into recovery from there, same result. I used odin to boot back into the rom, downloaded goomanager, and downloaded the older 2.6.3.9 recovery and everything installed fine as far as i can tell, rebooted into recovery, nothing. I used odin to flash a CWM recovery, same results. It seems recovery is broken. Can anyone help me? I just want stock, AOSP android, tired of TouchWiz's bullcrap.

[Q] Different Default dialer issues topic

Hello all,

I have googled and googled and searched, and I can't find anyone with the same issue I have. I don't know if I'm using the wrong search terms or what.

I cannot seem to get a default dialer setting for ALL phone numbers.

- I have Dialer One installed because I like it better than the default.
- It installed no problem, though even when I was in the app, it would still switch to the default to make the actual call, I think. But that didn't bother me too much... at least I could use it to find the number I wanted.
- Then I installed Skype.

Now, every time I call a phone number that I have not called recently, the thing pops up AGAIN asking me if I want to dial it with "Phone" or "Skype." (Dialer One is never an option.) I can tell it to use the Phone always... but it will only set it for that phone number. I'm constantly calling new phone numbers, and I'm sick of having to continually tell it to always use the phone!

Soooo.... can anyone tell me how to do at least one of these:

- Either make Dialer One the default for all calls and phone numbers.
- Or make the default phone dialer the default for all calls and phone numbers... I can still open Dialer One to locate the number I want.
- Or somehow tell it to stop offering Skype to me. Ever. I'll open the Skype app when I want to call that way.

Note:
- In my Settings | Applications, there is no default dialer listed at all. Dialer One is the only thing listed. I may have tried to uninstall it back when I installed dialer one... which may be why I'm having issues. Maybe?
- Skype settings has absolutely nothing in settings to "Never offer" or anything of the sort.
- Every solution I've found says to clear the defaults, make a call, and choose always. Like I said... I do that dozens of times every week and it still keeps popping up.

***I do have the phone rooted, in case the solution requires that.***

Need your opinions on flashing different roms/kernels often topic

Hello,what's your opinion on flashing different custom roms and kernels often? I mean every about 3 days or every week (sometimes even needed to flash on day two times because some roms or kernels are unstable and need reflashing) So what do you think about it? Does flashing somehow affecting phone? Or if you're flashing everything correctly (I mean for your specific phone model and etc..) won't have any affect for you phone?
Sorry for stupid question,but I discovered so much amazing roms on Nexus and I just want to try quite a lot of them,so that's why I'm curious to see your opinions about flashing roms.:cyclops:

Is there a way that we both can play on the tablet this game, with different accounts?

Restoring a backup from a different device topic

Long story short, I just had to RMA my Nexus 5 for an intermittent problem with my power button.

I've been running DroidKang for quite some time and I have a backup ready to go. My question is - as long as there is no EFS data being restored, I should be able to install the backup from my current N5, correct?

If there are any problems I may run into, please let me know.

Different displays between D820 and D821 (worse) topic

I had a D820 from the US Play store and I just bought a new D821 from the Carphone warehouse in the UK because I wanted to use the 4G.

The displays of both models look similar but the display on the D821 is a little bit "sticky".
For example, It's hard to swipe for notifications and hard to swipe in Swiftkey. My finger feels very hard resistance.
On the D820 it's much better (actually, I like it very much there). I also compared it to other phones.

Do you also see this on your D821 or I might have a defected unit?
