N9005 HDMI out settings topic

Hello everyone!

I have a Samsung Smartdock and my Note 3 works fine with it, but I noticed that the framerate is a little bit low and the output resolution don't match that of the TV (the image gets cropped on the borders). So I've been looking around to see if there's an app to play with hdmi out settings but all I'm getting are apps for specific devices (Nexus 10, Evo 4G and Droid X). Does anyone know if there's a generic one or one for note 3?

Thanks in advance!

Extremely Fast battery drain. . N9005 topic

Hi.

Wondering if anyone had seen this before on there note 3. My battery was 100% when I woke up this morning. Within about 2 hours it drained down to about 6%.

When checking battery stats there is a system app that looks like it was the culprit.

My phone was red hot for ages before I noticed it. .

It looks like it's the camera or something to do with the camera.

See screenshot. Can anyone advise add to exactly what it is?

[Q] Hong Kong 32GB n9005 and PIT topic

I want to flash an Aussie ROM on my HK 32GB n9005. I've been doing some reading and what I think I need to do is as follows...

ghibli3's thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2550823 specifically addresses this issue and thanks to those contributing there and elsewhere.

Now to check I understand what they are saying before I brick my phone. :D

I have these:
CSB_signed_HLTE_EUR_OPEN_32G_0718.pit
CSB_signed_HLTE_EUR_OPEN_32G_0805.pit
ghibli3-N9005.pit
ratcom-N9005.pit

I also used ghibli3's N9005-SaveMyPit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1385903491 to get a copy of my current pit.

I have my original HK MI7 stock, a HK stock MK2 (used to root my phone originally using RDLV) and both an MI7 and MJ7 Aussie ROMs.

So... here is what I think I need to do... Please let me know if this is correct or tell me how to do it better.

Using Odin and with phone in DL mode, USB Debugging on, Samsung drivers and ADB setup on PC...

1. Load a PIT file in [PIT] in Odin and tick [Re-Partition] then [Start]
(1st question, do I reboot the phone or just go to the next step?)

2. Follow RDLV steps to flash the Aussie MJ7 to root the phone.
(2nd question, should I drop back to the MI7 version for the root operation? I don't think it is needed as when I rooted my phone with HK version, I had HK MI7 on the phone and used HK MK2 to root it)

(3rd question, I have Kies 3 on my PC - should I uninstall it before doing any of this or might it be helpful to have it still installed?)

RECOVERY BOOTING
set warranty bit : recovery

[HELP] Galaxy Note 3 n9005 with KitKat (4.4) HARD BRICKED topic

Hi guys,

I recently hard bricked my note 3 n9005, which had KitKat installed. I was looking for different solutions on how to unbrick it, but never found a working one. One of these is flashing an Unbrick Image on the SD card, but for that I will need an image from a working note 3 with KitKat installed. Unfortunately haven't found such yet.

So could someone of you guys, that have 4.4 flashed, create an unbrick image either following this, which I found here in the forum, or using another method (like the Unbrick-Creator that I have attached here - again found it somewhere in the forum) and share it here.

Or if you know another working method also will be happy to hear.

I am sure this will be a huge help not only for me, but for all having the same problem.

I will really appreciate your help.

Thanks.

[Q] Got a Note 3 N9005 from US in India, have queries! topic

Hi All,

I just got my hands on a Note 3 N9005 which I ordered from http://mygsmstore.com/242-samsung-n9...2gb-black.html, in US, and delivered via a friend here.

Now, the box has the SIM Lock EU sticker in french (so am guessing this is a France N9005). But as per the link and my talks, this is factory unlocked (yes, I asked this again from the guys @ gsmstore).

Please bear as I am yet to go ahead with the initialisation and configuration, but am asking my queries first.

My queries follow -

1. Although I am yet to check this, will I get the KitKat etc updates OTA here in India on this device?
2. And these will be the French/EU ROM, then?
3. Will I need to make any configurations / settings for GPRS / 3G here in Delhi?

If anyone has any idea or steps which I can follow, I would be obliged.

But please keep it simple, I am a techie but a new one in Android.

(Mods: I have posted this at the Indian thread too for any help, please let me know if that's an issue, thanks.)

Thanks all.
Chetan

[Q] Strange N9005 problem topic

Dear all,

I had a note 3 n9005 white which worked fine in the first 5 days. After that, it starting shutting down randomly. The next day, when i start the phone, the screen freezes after 2-3 touches and it shuts down after 5 secs. If you plug the charger, it keep rebooting but does not work past few touches. If I boot the phone in download mode or recovery, it work flawlessly for as much time as you want. Sometimes you cannot start the phone without removing and reinserting the battery. I tried safe mode, hard reset, cache clears etc etc but no avail

I even flashed leaked polish kitkat rom just to see what happens but the issue is the same. Is it a hardware issue or a software/kernel issue ? Please HELP

AllShareCast fix for custom ROMs (I9500, I9505, I9506, E330, N9005) topic

This fix is for those who like to use AllShareCast/ScreenMirrorwhile on custom ROM (i.e. custom flag is set).

Disclamer: You apply the fix at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any software or hardware damage it can lead. The only thing i can assure is that i've tested fix on my I9500 and I9506 devices and they work fine.

Disclamer 2: I don't provide any technical support for my fixes through PM. So, please don't write PM about porting it to other ROM versions or other devices. I share what i'm doing for myself and have no intention to port it to devices i don't have.

This fix is not really fixes the problem, but turns off HDCP protection. So, the video signal will go to HDMI in clear(unprotected) form. As a side effect, this fix also will be useful for those, who has non-HDCP TV and thus cannot use Screen Mirror function.

I've made versions for 3 different SoCs, thus it should be compatible with almost full range of Samsung top devices:
  • Exynos 5410 for GT-I9500 Android 4.3 ROM MJ8

  • Snapdragon 600 for GT-I9505 Android 4.3 ROM MK8

  • Snapdragon 800 for GT-I9506(SHV-E330S/K/T) Android 4.3 ML5, SM-N9005 (and other SD800 versions of Note 3)

To install the fix, your device should be rooted!
You need to use file explorer which is able to write to /system partition. I recommend to use Root Explorer.
1) Open /system partition with write access ("mount R/W" button in Root Explorer)
2) Unpack following archive to specified folder:
  • for Exynos 5410: unpack hdcpoff_5410.zip to /system/lib

  • for Snapdragon 600: unpack hdcpoff_sd600.zip to /system/lib

  • for Snapdragon 800: unpack hdcpoff_sd800.zip to /system/vendor/lib

3) reboot your device.

That's all!

I didn't test my fix neither on I9505 nor N9005, but in theory it should work.

P.S.: If you are skilled enough, then you can port this fix to other version of ROM. Quick hint: Disassemble my fix and original file in IDA Pro, then compare listing to find the difference. And then, using some keywords near modified part, you can locate required places in the new version.
Generally, the versions I provide should work in any ROM within the same Android version.
