change dpi and other options? topic

I see no custom roms yet so what tool should I use to edit build.prop entries and dpi settings, fonts, etc. any info is appreciated.

Help: backup options - broken screen and no pc topic

Hey folks, so my gt-i9305 hit the deck and the screen/digitiser cracked. Phone works fully from what I can tell just no touch screen. Can still use voice commands etc so I know it works ;)

Was wondering if there was a way to grab the info or perform a backup without 1: a working screen and 2: no access to a pc (bloody hard drive failed)

Running twrp for recovery and the galaxy project rom. (can't remember which version though)

I'm kinda in a bit of a rush as insurance are sending a new phone so need to get this stuff off asap.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it can only be done via pc, any links or instructions would be great as searching on Tapatalk is painful at the best of times. Thanks

hey there,

I'm using the 2012 Version of the Nexus 7 (32GB Wifi), running Android 4.4.2 (Build KOT49H).
Am I right in thinking that there is currently NO option to safely root the device?

sorry if this is an common question, but if you're not already into the whole topic, things are a bit confusing at times. From what I saw, root tutorials mainly deal with 4.1 or 4.2?

[Q] Moto X RMA Options topic

Hey All,

Dropped my XT-1056 after owning it 6 months -> black screen and what appears to be a boot-loop. Contacted Motorola, and apparently it is still covered under warranty. However I do have an unlocked bootloader & root, and therefore my warranty is void. What are the chances they will notice the unlocked bootloader before opening it up and send it back as-is? I have heard rumors that popping it in the micro (I know I know this will pop a few transistors and brick my phone) will render it inert, and they would most likely just replace the phone. I have also heard that the first thing they do in the RMA process is a factory reset, so they might not notice the unlocked bootloader.

Any thoughts on which way I should go?

I just got a Nexus 5 and really liking the Qi wireless charging built inside the device. I have seen some options on the internet for wireless charging car mounts and wanted to see if anyone had any reviews and/or feedback before I purchase

I have seen the iOttie Easy Flex Wireless at CES, Choe on Amazon and an Owl something option. (Sorry - I was trying to post the links to more details but since I am new I cannot.)

Please - any feedback would be great because I really want to purchase SOMETHING for both mine and my wife's vehicle. Thanks! :good:

I have to get a new Windows laptop for my job. In an effort to use only one device (two if I count my phone), I'd like to figure out a way to use my Android apps that I have spent considerable time adding data to, etc..., to say nothing of the money I have spent on them. I'm considering a combo laptop/touchscreen/tablet device, but my question is....has anyone actually tried the options such as Bluestacks to use their Android apps on their Windows device? If the implementation stinks I will plan on keeping my current Android tablet and going low budget on the Windows laptop....if it might work even half way decently, I will spend more and get a decent laptop/tablet combo....anyone have any opinions about it?

The "Device options" menu keeps coming up when all I'm trying to do is sleep/shut off the screen. Is there any way to make this come up after 2-3 more seconds so I don't accidentally keep getting it?

Many many problems with KitKat update, what are my options? topic

I am stock, unrooted, and I installed the KitKat update a couple of weeks ago and my phone is absolutely terrible now.

1. Getting the "no-sim" (no sprint sim, no 4G for you!) error message, which I have never gotten before on this phone. I get the error intermittantly after installing the kitkat update
2. Battery drain is substantial, about twice the rate of what it was before
3. Phone runs much warmer than normal
4. Very bad reception, texts and calls not going through. I used to be able to get full bars 4G in my house, now I don't even get 3G after the update, and I had a 30 minute phone conversation from my house the other day and I dropped the call 4 times.

I thought maybe it was just a tower issue but it's been like this for the past few weeks. I've tried doing a PRL update, profile update, etc. but nothing helps.

Is the reception issue a problem with the most recent PRL update?

If I root the phone and install a custom ROM will this address my problems? I've rooted my tablets before but not a phone. Would going over to CM solve these issues?

Or at least i think its powering off - i punch in my encryption passcode, it goes to android splash screen, then zip...


I have been looking at other threads and searching (this forum is huge!) but not yet found an answer, certainly not one where i dont factory wipe.

The phone was on the official optus 4.3 firmware

What i did was I used Odin 1.85, and the appropriate CF auto-root from here (cant link yet, not enough posts)


Powered off the thing, took battery out for over an hour, twice, still the same

Just trying to re-root the phone so i can back it up again, it had been a while since using Titanium

Follow the typical instructions, seemed to go fine, it just gives me the green android screen for about two seconds after encryption key is put in and always goes off

I wiped the cache too, and i flashed the current firmware again using odin (Aus OPTUS 4.3 official) - still the same.

Anyone got any ideas for me>?

[Q] Screen Protector Options for Z1S? topic

Hello all, I am hoping to buy the Z1S through tmobile since I had the Z and loved it. The problem I'm having is all of the tempered glass screen protectors are for the Z1 which has the proximity sensor on the left of the Sony logo. I don't know what effect it will have putting a Z1 protector on and having it cover up the proximity sensor/light sensor.

What are you Z1S owners doing for screen protectors?
