CM11: Network Location Fails topic

Phone: Sony Xperia V
CM11 Nightly (Any)

So, I got a lot of apps in need of network location, weatherapps, trainapps, profiles and so on.
2 days ago this stopped working for no reason.
The small Icon that indicates that an app tries to get location does not appear anymore on some apps, in other it does appear but no location info, not via cell network or wifi.

So I did this:
Did a backup, wiped cache, no luck.
Wiped/factory reset, restored backup, no luck.

Backup with Titanium Backup, wiped cache, dalvik cache and factory reset.
Did NOT restore, but set all settings and downloaded one app to check, still nothing!
I flashed latest Gapps 201401 something.

Why is it so hard to get this working properly on CM?
Not the first time this has happened, 3-4 times now.

Any ideas?

I know some of you wont even read this thread.. due to it's popularity, but I just have to share my experience with 4.4.2 battery issues.

This is going to be a bit long (I just made 50% of you run away..) so sit back.

About two weeks ago I decided to flash the stock 4.4.2 that came out, and so I did, everything went smooth, no problems what so ever.
I also decided to root my device for the first time, just so I could change some system sounds and use root explorer, nothing more. so I did.
since then I started noticing the battery was not as it used to be, I would usually get home after work (~9-10 hours) and have 50-70% battery left depending on my phone usage that day. Now I was getting home with 30-20% and have to plug it in in the evening.
From what I saw in the battery stats in 'settings', it looked as if the phone is waking up every minute or so, for a couple of seconds, rather than sleeping when the screen is off, it got to the point I had less than an hour of screen time and the phone was about to shut down.

So I installed BBS, cpu spy, wake detector and started monitoring everything, in short I'll just say it got me nowhere, the stats were random at best, making me disable exchange services, Gmail sync, Google plus sync, Google now and more.

So after some time I got fed up, and decided to do a full system wipe, including system\data etc. basically everything, back to 4.4.2 stock, no apps, nothing installed except what comes with the phone.

Again, same behavior, another system wipe, same behavior.

I've been wiping the phone more than I was using it for the past 2 weeks, and yesterday I decided to try a different approach, I disabled EVERYTHING, the phone was basically just a 'phone'. NOW I was getting somewhere, phone was sleeping as soon as the screen was off, not waking up at all. and so I started enabling stuff, first my apps, everything still OK, then Google sync, OK, exchange sync, OK, location - BOOM - phone waking up again..

So, Location is the culprit after all, I started disabling stuff like Google location history, location reporting, WIFI scan networks, set locations to power saving mode, NADA. basically I have to turn off 'locations' all together in order for the phone to last more than half a day.

And that's my 4.4.2 experience for you.
Anyone has the same experience?
I'm this close to selling my S4 and getting a Nexus5.. my wife's Nexus 5 is amazing, everything set to ON, battery lasts 2.5 days..

Attached are two examples of the phone staying awake all the time, and not sleeping regularly. I did not take a screenshot of when the 'Locations' was off, but it was consistent with the screen on time, when the screen was off the phone was sleeping, no exceptions.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 GPS location data wrong. topic

I have a rooted TMobile Galaxy Note 2 and for some reason it shows my phone location as being in Tonapah Nevada. I am in Stockton California tho. When I try to use navigation it always shows my start location as that same location ("unnamed rd in Tonapah Nevada") unless I scroll across the map and manually find my location dot in Stockton. It isnt exclusive to google. I have the same problem with the 'Check in' feature on Facebook. I I've tried everything i could with my limited knowledge of the processes and searched threads for similar problems. I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks

TWRP backup location topic

I always used CWM on my other phones and now installed TWRP 2.6.3.3 and have following issue:

Like CWM, TWRP creates its own folder on SD-partition (internal storage on Mini). But the backups are stored in "root/data/media/TWRP/...", not in "SD/TWRP/...", so when backuping my files from phone I have to copy the TWRP-backup first to SD (I don't want to use adb etc. for that).

Why is TWRP not using the standard-folder on SD and can I change the location?

Also mounting internal storage doesn't work in TWRP. Any ideas?

i've seen on the original thread that there's some sort of gps config? can anyone help?

apart from this and some occasional crashes, this ROM is by far the best thing that happened to my One X, i can report mobile data internet performance is much better than the original sense rom. Many thanks to all involved in this, top kudos :)

[Q] Phone giving location when send SMS topic

Hello, I really hope someone here can help me out. My girlfriend has a GS3, and when she sends text messages to certain people, it will give her location automatically via text message. I have never seen it from my end when I text her, but just now I got this after I sent her a text message: "Attention word received, Getting location. Please wait up to 5 minutes for a response." and then a few moments later I received, " GPS location failed, Network-based location: Accuracy 30 Meters..." and then gave her full location; Latitude, longitude, speed, and bearing and then gave a google maps link to her location and the address of where she is. She has asked me to help get her to turn it off before, and I've tried to research it but have not been able to find anything. Please help!

WI-Fi antenna location topic

Umm.. where the wifi antenna is located on htc one s? There are few antennas on phones top and bottom but witch one is wifi? i wanna do some soldering mod or something to try to increase wifi signal a bit. :)

Camera Picture location topic

Anyone having problems with location in there camera? I checked for geo tagging and it's on but no location tags. Did work before. I'm talking about the location for the pictures taken in the gallery. All my photos before the new year have the city and state they were taken in.

[Q] Music Unlimited Save Location topic

I have signed up for the Music Unlimited service through the Walkman app.

Everything is working perfectly except for the fact that the offline Playlists are being saved to the internal memory by default and there is no actual option within the app to change the save location to the SD card.

I understand this is because the music is not downloaded in actual .mp3 format - but in a format that can be saved to app data and allow for easy encryption in the event someone does not continue paying their monthly subscription.

Is there any app I could use to move the application data to the SD card without losing any core functionality?

Would Link2SD or Apps2SD work in this situation?

I enabled the call recording menu with wanam exposed.

The only thing I cannot find is the file location for the stored recordings.

Location lock bug topic

So...

Put location on battery saving.
Toggle location off and back on. Set it to battery saving again.
Wait a minute, try to get lock on GMaps for example...
After you reboot the phone it works perfectly again untill toggled off and on...

I noticed this on beta3, don't know if it has been there earlier...
I know at least 2 more people are having the same issue.

CM11 external sd location topic

Anyone knows how to fix apps detecting external sd in /mnt/media_rw instead of /storage, dolphin was detecting it in /storage in earlier builds but now its mnt/media_rw and it gives me insufficient permission, picture2sd is also not working
