[Q] WiFi + Google Play Music issues topic

Hi guys,

Got a problem with my mother's Xperia SP. WiFi doesn't seem to stay on when the screen is off, despite the right option being ticked in settings. It doesn't show any sign that it's disconnected, but Google Play Music stops downloading the long queue of music we've selected to be stored on the device if the screen is closed for a little while. This is most frustrating, and I suspect a software bug.

This is an Xperia SP on Orange, build number 12.0.A.2.254 (the latest available, Android 4.1.2) and the bootloader is not unlockable or I would have installed Cyanogenmod already.

Any ideas?

Hey, everyone:

I recently succesfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted an AT&T HTC One, but am now having trouble with an HTC One, Google Play Edition.

I'm not too sure if it's the same concept, but every time type ./fastboot oem get_indentifier_token, I receieve a (bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!! message. I've read it may have something to do with an outdated HBOOT?

Does anyone have any advice on getting this to work? Should I try from step one?

Hello,

I see that HTC One (M8) Developer Edition comes with bootloader unlocked as per:

Does HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition comes with bootloader unlocked as well?

The Google Play web page play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=htc_m8 only mentions that the phone is unlocked (vis-a-vis carrier), but does not reference bootloader at all.

I'm looking for a phone, that would be easier to root.

Problem with Google Play Music lockscreen widget topic

Hey all,
Since I got the OTA for KK 4.4.2 on my moto x, my lockscreen music widget is acting a little bit weird. When I'm listening to music with google play music (and even from some other players like poweramp, rocket player, etc) and the screen goes off, if the track ends and another one begins before I wake the phone up, when I do, it shows the current's music art, but the title from the previous track.
With some players I get a bit of variation, some I get the previous album art, some I get both, name and art....
I can only get it working properly when I'm using NexMusic or Shuttle, with both of them, everything works like a charm, but I really wanted to use GPM.
I have recently factory reseted my phone, it didn't work. Tried to clear GPM's cache and data, nothing, tried to uninstall the update and stick to the original one that came with the phone and still nothing... So I was wondering if any of you can help me a little bit here.
I took a screenshot to try to explain it. It started playing Resistance by Muse, the screen went off and then Sunday Morning started playing, the album art is from sunday morning but the track name is still Resistance.

Converting the Dev Edition to the Google Play Edtion M7 style? topic

Does anyone think they'll be able to convert the M8 into the Google Play Edition like the M7? I'm assuming it will be possible and I know nobody knows for sure, but I'm looking for a slight amount of reassurance in my purchasing of the M8 Dev Edition. Not only does it make sense for me from a financial standpoint (the Dev Edition is cheaper and I wouldn't have to pay sales tax like I do on Google Play, so I'm saving about ), I'm also interested in trying out the new Sense 6.0 features for a while. That being said, after a month or so I'll probably be craving stock Android and will want to make the switch. Are there any Devs or any people who have more knowledge than I do that might be working on such an option in the near future? Thanks!

[Q] KOT49H ROM - Google Play Edition - Lockscreen Notifications topic

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone who uses this ROM - KOT49H knows if there is a way to get the notifications on the lock screen similar to Liquidsmooth (Which may or not be stock to something else I dont know)

Basically on the lock screen it would have a square icon on the right side of the screen for your music player, new emails, new texts ect and you could slide them out to see more or to unpause your music ect.

[Q] Play services problem topic

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice here. I have been running the last version of PSX rom that was released late last year. Yesterday my phone kept trying to repeatedly download google play tv and movies app with no success and I kept getting pop ups about google newstand not working. Then everytime I opened gmail with would say unfortunatley gmail has stopped working.

So I tried reflashing gapps. No luck
I restored a backup I had from january. same problem
I wiped and flashed jelly bean carbon rom and gapps. Same problem
I also wiped and tried a fresh install of psx and gapps. Lost root and gmail wont work but play store does work.

Not sure what I can do here. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know how to fix the horrible grey background that's appearing in the music app, I've attached a picture to show what I mean, I have the album artwork and I've tried clearing the cache and data, refreshing the app etc but still nothing. I thought it was meant to display artwork but it doesn't do it with any of my albums. HELP!

[Q] [HELP] Google Play Store Error 481 topic

Hi friends,

Recently I wanted to install an app on my Htc Pico with Revolution Sense. Whenever I clicked on Install button it gave me this error "'The app could not be downloaded because of an error (481)". I even reflashed the Rom, cleared the cache, Data. But it didn't help.

As the title suggest I cannot play media on my phone (music or videos) I can however play videos through MX player but that is it. No snapchat, YouTube, twitch, music. I am running i337m on bell with CyanogenMod 11 20140322 nightly any ideas on how to fix this?

This is a simple question: what's the best video player for the Xperia Play? I mean, for playing HD (720p, not 1080p) content.

I used a lot Moboplayer, but it slows a lot in HD videos, even installing the codecs... And the latest versions of Moboplayer take a while to start and it's a bit annoying...

What video player do you use for HD content? Please, if the recommendation you give needs some codec, say wich one (a direct link can be even more helpfull!).

[Q] Problem with google play topic

Hello!
I have a problem with google play. When I download an app, it creates a file called downloadfile.apk inside the cache folder in the internal memory, but I do not understand why after you install the program this file is not automatically deleted.
Could it be that deletion of these temporary files is related to a process that could have stopped with the app "autostarts"?

[Q] Can't download Google Play Movie topic

I'm new to this HP TouchPad/Android thing and would be grateful for some help.

I installed CM 10.2 and it generally seems to be working well. I downloaded Google Play Movies & TV, then tried to rent a movie and download it so I could watch it on an upcoming flight. It will not download, saying that the movie is 400MB and there is not enough room.

The FreeSpace Android App reports the following:

Cache 130 MB
External_sd 11.23 GB
Internal/data 290 MB
Lib 10 MB
System 200 MB

Does Google Play Movies & TV try to put the file in the Internal/data partition? If so, should I consider using Tailor to repartition and move some space from SD to Internal/data? Any thoughts on how to do this, if that's the fix?

Google Play Services - High Data Usage? topic

Hi, recently I have observed almost 3GB of Google Play Services usage.

I am reading in many threads that this issue is caused by OTA updates constantly downloading. The only solution reported is to download some application to disable it. However, apparently this causes a wake lock? Also, this is reported in version 4.3. I am on Cataclysm ROM on 4.4, so not sure if the solution would be applicable in this case.

Any help is appreciated.
