[Q] Completely removing encryption on SD? topic

So when I joined my phone to the corporate network, it insisted on (amongst other things), encrypting the SD card. After some annoyance with that, pins etc, I decided to revert back. I successfully removed the accounts etc and unchecked the encrypted SD card option.

However, when I did so, it said something about only applying going forward and I still keep getting asked for the pin to decrypt the SD card. So it seems that stuff is still decrypted on there? I have done some searching but have had little luck finding any definitive answers, most seem to be related to problems with people losing whatever key to decrypt items which is obviously not the case here since once I enter the pin, I can access items with no problem

So what's the deal? Do I have to save everything off and reformat the SD card to get back to normal? Seems kind-of wonky to me but that's Android, I guess.

Oh, I have tried reencrypting and unencrypting the SD card again and the Android version is 4.1.2 if that's any help.

[Q] Is my phone completely bricked? topic

So I'm a retard and I installed the MK3 boot loader on my AT&T GS3 and accidentally deleted the OS. I can still boot into the recovery and download mode. I can't flash anything through Odin since the boot loader doesn't let me. Is there a way to fix this or is my phone completely bricked? If there is a way to fix this, please tell me how. Thanks.

Completely black / dead camera topic

I've seen some people report black lines on their camera applications but my issue is that off location tracking inside the camera app itself since again I can't access the damn thing.the camera won't boot at all I just get a black unresponsive screen no matter what I do. I've tried most of the stuff suggested on xda including turning setting my location service to gps only, turning off Wi-Fi (I can't disable Sharing because it won't let me ) as well as clearing the app data & cache). What l can't try is turning off location tracking inside the camera app itself since again I can't access the damn thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As aside note I've installed so I'm running 4.4, still nothing.

Rom completely randomly stops booting.. any ideas why? topic

Im using Pound Rom cm11 4.2.2 and stock cm kernel.

but I'm running into this problem:

often when i reboot the rom doesn't boot anymore.

it just gets stuck on the samsung logo with the yellow triangle.

only restoring a nandroid will recover the phone.

but its really annoying i need to restore a nandroid every 2 or 3 reboots.

is this a ROM specific problem, or whats going on?

Sent from my sending thing..
I hate you so much im going to kill you to death!

*Near Perfect* ShinyROM [AOSP 4.4.2] KOT49H (No mods, completely stock!) topic

ORIGINAL CREDIT TO BALDWINGUY77 OVER ON ROOTZWIKI. CHECK OUT THE ORIGINALi: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-rom.../#entry1031982

I'm only port to maguro.

Use base rom AOSPA Beta3 and Kernel.

This ROM is Android Jelly Bean 4.4.2, build KOT49H. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.

As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...

Features
Stock Android 4.4.2, build KOT49H
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
(De)Odexed
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Believe it or not, December is still a month!
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list

Installation Instructions (VERY IMPORTANT - Note: You can flash all of these ZIPs in CWM or TWRP)
ROM

1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's Superuser Root ZIP, the radios installation ZIP, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. Flash the ROM (Download)
11. If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
12. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!

Download it noooooooowwwww: here, instant dl.

This isn't mine, if you have questions feel free to ask.

[Q] TF101 Completely dead topic

So my TF101 appears to be completely dead. I had it rooted and rom'd running KatKiss 4.3,not sure of which number . I loved it too. Anyway, before it died, it rebooted and would not leave the "updating apps"screen so I did a factory install which fixed the problem but only temporarily. A few days later the same thing happened. This time I could not even reboot it. I left it charged overnight but could not get it to boot at all. I think I have tried everything. I tried booting with and without being on the keyboard dock, I have tried plugging into the computer, tried hdmi to a monitor to see if the screen went bad. I tried seeing if the computer recognized it in APX mode. NOTHING. The USB charges the keyboard dock but does nothing for the tablet. The computer does not see it period. It looks completely dead. It is out of warranty but I even called ASUS and all they would do is charge me 0 to send it in.

I would love to troubleshoot to see if it is a board or battery or whatever gone bad , but I cannot find anything on the Web. Can anyone help. Otherwise it's a lovely paperweight.

[Q] Completely bricked TF101 topic

So I was doing something on my tablet, and it shut down.
I tried to reboot it and it was stuck.
I thought i had my rom on it (KatKiss) so i did a factory reset and tried to flash it but then i saw i deleted it when i flashed it at first.
So i thought ill just use EasyFlasher and get it back up and running.
Then I tried to get into APX mode and failed.
Volup + Power = Nothing
It just powers on the tablet and it stays there at the Asus logo.
I tried to hold it for 20+ seconds, nothing.
USB is plugged into the tablet, not the dock.
Tried to use sdcard to flash rom on it, cwm cant mount sdcards...
So if anyone could help it would be great :)

[Q] Completely dead phone.. possible to retrieve photos? topic

Hi everyone, bit of a long story this one so feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs.

Got a new Samsung S4 mini and at the time was using a Samsung S2. So when the new phone came I wanted to get some stuff from my old phone to the new one. So I tried with the Smart Switch app, I downloaded and installed it onto the S4 without any problems, but when it came to trying to get it onto the S2, I wasn't even able to find it in the play store, because the version wasn't compatible.

So off I went to settings, to try and install the S2 into the latest Android version which downloaded fine, but for some reason it was failing during the installation stage. The phone told me to do it via KIES instead. So I got KIES onto my PC and tried updating the phone via that. This was when even more problems started, it seemed to update, but then on the phone there was a message something like "updating android apps" and it got on the final couple of apps and it never installed, it was basically frozen (I left it a while, maybe not long enough), so the installation of the apps was disrupted when the USB was taken out. The screen stayed the same so I just turned the phone off and tried to reboot it but it wouldn't power up at all.

I can not enter download or recovery mode, the phone doesn't even switch on. It's as if the battery is completely dead.

Long story short: Can I retrieve photos from the internal storage of a dead phone, somehow? I'm not fussed that the phone is/may be broke. All I want is the photos from it so I can transfer them to my new phone.

From what I've read over the last few days, updates etc shouldn't delete things like photos. So it's really annoying that the photos are there on the phone, I just can't get to them. >:(
