Hardware problem topic

So, everytime i wave my phone around my ear i hear a sound at the back of the phone and makes me think that there's something broken or, detached.First, i thought its the vibration motor, but when i dissembled the phone, the motor seemed fine and well fixed there.I waved it again and the sound (i think) came from under the motherboard.I want to fix this problem because i can't use the vibrations.They work but, they sound like something is buzzing in there and it's not attached.

So I did a little searching before posting so don't ream me please 😬😈
1) Does the dev edition s4 also have a locked bootloader? That would be f'in whack.. If it us unlocked and my second q doesn't pan I may try and swoop one up. ..
2) I have a friend with a tmobile s4 that he cracked the digitizer and just reported it lost... If I took his board could I unlock it to big red? If so what would be the consequences?

[Q] SM-N900W8 Compatibility for Hardware topic

Trying to find an LCD/Digitizer with Frame for my phone. I can't seem to clear up whether it matters what model I look at for parts.

Looking at a bundle of parts that include LCD Screen, Digitizer Touch Screen, Front Housing, Front Facing Camera, Earphone Jack with Ear Speaker Flex Cable Ribbon, Charging Port Flex Cable Ribbon, Signal Wire Vibrating Motor and Power Button Flex Cable Ribbon.

All of these are for the N9005.

Does anyone know if these will work with the Canadian model? Alternatively I could just get the LCD/Digitizer with housing for the same model, or any US model.

[Q] Hardware failure? topic

Last night all the apps on my 16gb Nexus 4 crashed inexplicably at the same time. I tried rebooting and the phone just looped the loading animation endlessly. I tried going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset but get the following errors:

E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log

(It repeats these several times before giving up)

This morning I downloaded the Nexus Root Toolkit to try and reflash the stock software, but with no luck. The bootloader is still locked (I never had a need to root this phone... so I thought...) so it won't allow me to flash updates. When I try to unlock using NRT, I just end up in another boot loop.

I've also tried to sideload the stock image through the phone's recovery but get the same errors. If I try the "wipe cache partition" option I get the same errors (but change /log to /last_install) with 1 additional:

E:Failed closing /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
(I/0 error)

So my question is, how hosed am I? What have I not done that I should try? Is there a way to flash or sideload just an unlocked bootloader? Any ideas about how to fix this unmountable E:? Or has my phone just exploded?

Hardware issues with out of warranty kindle fire topic

my kindle fire is way out of warranty and has a custom rom on it. i use it as a radio type device as my nexus 7 does not seem to work with the app i use for some reason (maybe a kitkat problem) but lately ive been noticing that i have to get the microusb thing just right in the kindle and leave it. if i do as much as to barely move the table it will quit charging. (the cable works fine with my nexus 7) and the headphones jack is really loose (again the headphones work just fine with my nexus 7). i dont really want to have to live with this anymore (note: i am really careful with my kindle fire so that cant be a problem) but dont know what to do. help please?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Speaker Hardware Help!!! topic

Hey guys! I'm reaching the end of my rope with this... so if anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know!

About a week ago, I dropped my S4 into a toilet! Anyways, everything came out fine besides the loud speaker. Now, the speaker isnt completely dead. It produces a low, constant hum (like some sort of electromagnetic interference). It produces different sounds as I use the touchscreen. It will ring and play music, but the quality is horrible. Ive replaced the Speaker ( it was easy since the housing pops on and off) and the USB Flex Cable. I am still getting the horrible hum and bad sound quality from the speaker. For the time being, I have a small piece of paper in front of the positive and negative of the speaker. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!!!

Well, after saving a long time, I finally got my s3 on amazon.com, when I opened it, it was new and beautiful, I powered it up, inserted my sim, and the phone freezed, after that I waited 2 minutes, and pulled out the battery, and tried to power it up again, but it got stuck at the yellow triangle saying to put it in download mode and use kies, I looked in the forum and found an Odin tutorial , downloaded all the neccessary tools, left the phone plugged to my USB port in download mode doing nothing, and went out fifteen minutes, when i came back decided to flash a new working rom onto my phone i founded the telephone completely dead, not responding to any key combination or cable connection to my pc, i thought it was the battery , charged it on my brothers phone and the phone was still dead,(i tested the battery for voltage and it delivered 3.7 v and 1500 maH, all correct and optimal values, I searched again and tried with a USB jig, trying to get into recovery mode, and it did not work either (the usb jig was allright, because it worked on my brothers phone, and on a friends Galaxy SII , so i do not know what else to do, and i ended posting here. What can i do? i will send it back to warranty , but maybe i can solve it first :D, Thanks!

Bricked Hardware issue? topic

Today I booted up my tf101 and the screen stayed black then flickered blue lines across the top. I tried hard reset, no dice, tried to boot into twrp (I was running katkiss 4.4 fine for weeks), and the screen flickered blurry images, nothing. Tried to push stock software with easy flasher, looks like it works, but same issue when I turn the tablet back on. Weird thing is my pc still sees my tablet and ext sd files. Anyone have any ideas? My son is not a happy camper at the moment.

please tell me theres some line of code somewhere where i can simply put some # in and deactivate the right mouse button this way?

im running a Minix X7 on my TV controlling it via a Logitech TK820 and External Keyboard Helper Pro - everything works fine, except that sometimes I accidently tap on the right/down half of the touchpad and go "back" since that seems to be the default binding for "hardware mouse right button click".

With Tincores Keymapper i can bind/map the *hardware right click* to a left click, so it is possible somehow - but i need External Keyboard Helper Pro ;/ Either bind the right mouse click to a left or deactivating it at all would be fine!

Searched though forums and .kl-files, but all I could find theres is the binding/mapping of the keyboard-keys, not the *mouse buttons*

[Q] Using hardware features on Galaxy S4? topic

Hi,

I have a galaxy S4 and obviously has features like air view and air gesture etc. Sadly though Samsung seem to be the apple kind of people in the android world limiting the features etc. These features only work with default Samsung apps so using air gestures in a 3rd party SMS app isn't possible.

I'm just wondering if it is possible to use these features else where like maybe through some sort of rooted app? I also think it would be good to be able to integrate air view etc with tasker or like when your screen is off you can hover your finger over the screen to turn it on to view notifications as I use an app to show notifications on the lock screen. Is it possible to do such thing or haven't Samsung released the SDK for it?

Xperia Arc S - battery drain in OFF state - suspect hardware topic

Hi there,

my problem is as shortly described in the topic.
The device drains between 50-190mA in an OFF state depending on the voltage applied.
I used a lab power supply to check it.

The procedure to measure it is:
0) perform repair using PC Companion - the device is completely clean
Model: LT18i
Android version: 4.0.4
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf
Build: 4.1.B.0.587
It has been upgraded from its factory version quite some time ago.
The drain problem started long after the upgrade.
1) Installed (just for formality): Battery Widget, Battery Stats Plus, OsmAnd, GPS Test, Total Commander
- the rest is usual bloatware that installs itself
1) switch off all possible functions (plane mode, WiFi OFF, BT OFF, ...)
- no alarms, no calendar notifications
2) power down the phone
3) take out battery, SIM card and SD card
4) connect power supply directly to ± battery connectors on the phone
5) no other cables connected (neither the battery)
6) apply voltage 4.2V (190mA) -> 3.0V (33mA) in 0.1V steps

Let me stress it again - the phone is in OFF state - no power button pressed, no attempt to boot it.
At this state I would consider 10mA normal, but definitaly not 200mA.

I have done a bit more measurements, but I don't think it is of use now.

As I mentioned above, the problem started suddenly, long after I upgraded to a newer OS version.
I noticed it since the phone started heating, which I could feel in the pocket.

Now, a bit about the heating. It seems that the source of it is a chip that I have identified as a Flash memory.
It sits around the top left under a metal shield when looking from the back of the phone,
after unscrewing the plastic mid-part. It is worm even in OFF state (no charger, just battery).
It gets very warm when the phone is ON and "unpleasantly" warm when there is some activity
(I actually played with the camera).

Otherwise the phone is fine. I haven't noticed any problems with it.
I use it as a navigation, SD card and SIM inserted, but no service (I mean the SIM card is inactive).

Now the actual question - is there a SW way (I mean without desoldering anything) to possibly
correct this problem? Unfortunately my suspicion is that some power management component
must have failed and it keeps delivering power.

Any help will be appreciated. It is still quite a nice device.
