[Status] VZW M8 Bootloader Unlock / S-Off Method topic

Current Status: Bootloader Unlock / S-Off - NOT POSSIBLE

The HTC M8 has launched for Big Red, and much to our dismay, HTCDev does not allow for us to unlock the bootloader through the traditional avenues.

Presently, there is no known workaround.

Thus, this is a thread for conversations regarding any progress being made on a bootloader unlock/S-Off method for the VZW HTC One M8.

Try to avoid being speculative as much as possible. Please post any updates you see in other threads and on other sites. Also, if notable champions of previous unlock methods/exploits want to post their efforts here (*ehem beaups et. al...), by all means, feel free!

Got unlock and S-OFF, but cannot get any cell service with any ROM topic

Used this thread to help me unlock my bootloader last night. Temprooted (just shows wallpaper and status bar, no unlock circle), then I ran rumrunner and it worked perfectly. Bootloader shows "Tampered Unlocked S-OFF". But trying to reboot into the stock ROM didn't work anymore. Just got to the same temproot screen (locked wallpaper basically). So I was forced to go forward and flash aftermarket ROMs (which I planned on doing later anyway). I flashed TWRP and then installed various ROMs. Had nothing but problems. Some woudln't pass the splash screen and others would load up, but never give me any cell service. So now I'm on the stock rooted deodexed ROM and I still have no service. Other than that, everything works fine. Phone boots up rather quickly and connects to WiFi fine. But no service! I tried loading the radios in the second post here. They installed fine, but no change.

[Q] [Request] Help with Root, Unlock, S-OFF, and Tamper topic

This the only phone I've ever had a problem with, and I am asking for some help from the community.

I've got a Cricket HTC One SV. K2_PLC_CL. Android 4.2.2, which should be Jellybean.

I just wanted to get root. I know there aren't any custom ROMs (what I wouldn't give to remove all the bloatware, though...)

I followed a few guides that I'm sure everyone's looked at. My bootloader IS unlocked. When I tried flashing a recovery (I have two or three to try, one's even labelled for Cricket. They're CWM, though), I was unable to boot into it to install Superuser. Since then, I've earned the "TAMPERED" flag.

Have I done something terribly wrong? Can someone please instruct me on how to get root, and to fix my recovery?
Since I somehow managed to fail, I would be extremely appreciative if someone would be so kind as to spell it out, or just give me step-by-step instructions.

Since booting into recovery, my phone freezes if I shut it down while it's plugged into the charger... Oddly enough.

Ive been S-On for years now with no issues, currently 2.09 and 3.15. Running Sense 5 Y10 with ElementalX Kernel. I was curious if there are any advantages to having the latest firmware which means going S-Off ?? Like I said, its running fine and snappy with no glitches, PRL updates, but with newer ROMS coming out, I dont know if it will conflict with my older firmware, Also if I do go S-Off, can I keep my current Sense 5 rom ? Thanks for any input, Im kind of old school and if it aint broke, dont fix it. ;)

[Q] Bricked an S-OFF HTC One topic

Hey,

I bought an HTC ONE M-7 from a user who was running it on a custom Rom and had it S-OFF.

While trying to put stock Rom on the phone via the pc, the pc crashed in the middle of the process and the mobile stopped responding. The phone stayed in this condition until the battery ran dry. Since that moment, the phone doesn't turn on by any combination of hardware buttons as mentioned on different forums. While plugged in to a power source the screen just blinks on and off.

I would be highly obliged if anyone can help me out of this situation.

I tried to S-off using rumrunner but I get stuck on this error - "ERROR: looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!"
What do I need to do so it won't happen??

Hi guys,

This morning I've found this "RumRunner" that does the S-OFF to HTC devices. I thought that my HOX was compatible, but as I'm writing here, I haven't done it yet. Before I start, I need some information about what I'm about to do:

- What does a S-OFF device that S-ON one doesn't?
- Is RumRunner actually compatible with my HOX? (Some infos about it are on my sigature)
