[ROOT] Running out of Battery? Use this! topic

We know that our old Note have an AMOLED display, this means that the black pixels are almost turned off, so you can experience a good and sharp image instead of blueish, LCD TFT displays. It's a bit buggy because of dead pixels from manufacturer, clipping issue in videos and screen burn-in (not in every phone, just in some). Another complication of this screen is that if you put brightness at lowest, it's still very bright so if you want to read something in your bed, or use the phone without iluminating the whole room, there's an app that you will like:
Galactic Night
This app have much great features: you can use the phone at any combination of colors you want: Black and Red, Black and Blue, Black and Green, No blue (to prevent insomnium), B&W etc.
So what the hell have this to do with the battery? Well, it's easy, think this:
You're running low battery, and need extra minutes to finish your task. Use Black and Red setting
You are in a travel, without any charger, and want your phone turned on all the day. Use Black and Red setting

If you use this setting, your battery will be incremented to a 25% to 40% in duration. Also as it uses only red pattern of pixels and black, your phone will have less and it will be perfect to read at night (even it will be more healthy as it doesnt uses blue leds which causes insomnium).
The app is free to use and requires ROOT. Works only on Samsung phones with amoled screens.

******USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK****** Using these options for a long time (DAYS without turning off the screen for even a single second) will result a permanent lost of the used color.

running android with no launcher app topic

hi all, its been a long time now since i first thought on running my phone without any homescreen/launcher app, since i am no fan of fancy animations, rather than that i prefer a phone that doesn't lag and have a decent battery life I've installed the simpliest slimest launcher i know (slim launcher) it weighs only 0.9 mb, but still it uses ram and processor to run, now given that I'm on slimkat it jumped to me again, having slim pie /notification shortcuts, ive decided to set all my apps into those tools, meaning fill up three slim pie rows with essential apps and notification shortcuts with the rest, but before i do anything i would like to read some insights from other users, possible limitations when deleting my last launcher app, and if it would/wouldn't be beneficial regarding battery life and performance, atm i see just one limitation and it's the number of apps i can install to my phone due to the limited amount of free spaces on slim pie + notification shortcuts

any thoughts would be pretty much appreciated

Running 4.1.2.. Is my Note 2 up to date? topic

Hey Guys, there is something I've never been clear about. My Note 2 is an international unlocked version. I'm using it on T-Mobile, will I be able to get the latest OS from T-mobile for my International version? Or, do I need to go to a Samsung website?

I always check the updates and it says I'm up to date, but I really would like 4.2 for mirror display capability. How do people get the latest OS? Like Kit Kat? Do you have to wait for t-mobile? Can you get it else where?

Please advise, thanks!

Can someone update Google Now for devices running ICS? topic

Guys,

I'm one of the very few people running the Huewai Ascend P1 LTE (U9202-1.) :cowboy:

Even though I'm rooted, no one has ever developed a ROM for this handset and roms for the Ascend P1 do not work, (as the hardware is fundamently different.) I'm therefore stuck on ICS 4.0.4. :crying:

In the past, I've installed the M7 flashable zip to get Google Now. Whilst it works good, Its a few years behind and also is laggy.

Can someone please make an updated Google Now for us poor guys still stuck on ICS.

Thanks in advance.

[Q] How can I tell which things are running? topic

Hey,
When I turned on my phone the RAM it was taking was 300 MB, after a days use it is now 500MB (even after pressing 'clear RAM' button).
I've entered Settings->apps->running and it shows only two small things (the keyboard and some weather widget) which combined take only 20 MB.
So what is the rest of the memory is beign allocated for?

Thank you.

Running PA 4.0+ LG G2 Internet Connectivity problems (solved) topic

I've seen a few people in the official thread created by houstonn on the 4.0+ PA for the G2 having problems where all internet connectivity would cut out. This is a relevant place for my post because it is in a general discussion on PA, I can't post in the official forum because I don't have the required amount of posts on the forum.

I was having that problem but dug around and figured out that Adblock Plus was the problem. While browsing pages in either the stock internet browser or Google Chrome and running into a page that was listed in ABP's ad LINK, all downloads and internet connectivity would stop.

I put the pieces together, not knowing originally that I was visiting pages with high advertisement traffic and tried it with Adblock Plus disabled, I had no internet connectivity problems at all after that.

So if anyone has any elaborations or questions, please post here. I am not sure if this is just a thing for PA 4.0+ Beta 6 or if it has anything to do that I'm running the ART framework. I just want to inform some of the users in the original LG G2 thread for PA 4.0+ that this might be your problem.
Thanks.

It looks like you're missing a required argument :)

Try passing it a parent window as well as the message.

Storage space is running out - some system functions may not work topic

I have the 32GB N5, and currently have about 500MB free. That seems like it should be enough to me, but Android obviously thinks differently. I called Google Nexus support and talked to someone who had zero knowledge/training, so no help there, they just told me to delete stuff until the message disappeared(which I find to be an insulting "solution").

My question is, is this message a bug? And/or what is the minimum amount of space that needs to be left unused for all of the "system functions" to work correctly.

My appreciation to anyone who can answer this question.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Grand OS Running on Sony Xperia Z topic

hi! everyone.

I have a friend who just bought Xperia Z.
He is just crazy about getting the Samsung Galaxy Grand OS on it.
I guess I probably need Samsung Galaxy Grand OS running on Sony Xperia Z.

I have told him that Sony Xperia Z is superior to Samsung Galaxy Grand OS in terms of security and user interface and features. But, He is kinda fallen in love with the Samsung Galaxy Grand Interface.

Is it possible to put an original ROM from Samsung Galaxy Grand OS.

I guess I would first need to root Sony Xperia Z and then probably take a Nandroid backup and probably put a custom boot loader in case something goes wrong I can bring it back.

Here's some details about the OS on Xperia Z.

Model Number C6602; Android Version 4.3, Kernel Version 3.4.0-g1b44cd5; Build Number 10.4.B.0.569

Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Running multiple 'adb shell' commands through 'CreateProcess' on Windows PC topic

Hi All,

This query is about running 'multiple adb commands' on 'single adb shell' opened using CreateProcess.

Currently we are able to run single command on adb shell which is created using CreateProcess API. This works fine.

But our requirement is, opening up of single adb shell and executes set of adb commands on that same shell. (ie., reusing of already opened adb shell for executing further adb commands on it)

Kindly let me know if anyone has an idea on this.

Thanks and Regards,
Sridevi.

[Q] So it's 2014...NOW should I be running an antivirus program on my Android devices topic

So we are in 2014 in case alot of you haven't noticed. I just read a report how banking apps on Android are more vulnerable that Apple's (watch-out it's gonna be Apple's new selling point), but for obvious reasons I understand why (say FREEDOM!). Anyways...should everyone now be required to be running an antivirus just like is a MUST to be running one on our Windows platform, or is it still early to worry about that? What your opinion fellas?
