Fix for LTE Tethering topic

Here is a fix I found for LTE tethering on a nexus 4. It doesn't seem to work on the LG g2.

http://hippowise.com/how-to-fix-lte-...r-the-nexus-4/

Does anybody know of a way to get it working so that we can tether through LTE?

[Q] USB Tethering without data connection topic

Hi,

Using Android 4.0.4 on an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-I717).

I'm trying to set up a simple network between a computer and the android. This is because the android will access a web page on the computer. Unfortunately I don't have the option of rooting the phone. I've been trying to get USB tethering enabled without a SIM card or wifi connection but it always bugs me with a message "Insert SIM card to access network services". I've tried a couple of apps that try to enable it for you (Tether It, Tasker), but they do not work.
I note that tethering will work if you start with WiFi connected to an access point, enable tethering, then disconnect WiFi, but that's not good enough here because I may not have anything to connect to. I need to just be able to hit a button somewhere and have it work with no data connection.

Is this generally possible (even by writing an app)?

As an alternative, I know I can do a hotspot without data connection via "Hotspot Control", but it does not stay connected reliably (it may drop out after about 2 hours and this must run unattended). I think the unreliability is either the fault of the phone or the app. I haven't found any other hotspot apps that work without data.

I'm also aware that there are USB-powered WiFi routers that can be used but I'd like to look into USB tethering and android hotspots first.

Any ideas?

Thanks

[Q] Enable bluetooth tethering? topic

Hey guys,

Just got my phone rooted on 4.4.2 NB1 using SafeStrap and muniz' stock rooted NB1 rom (Thanks so much again if yours seeing this!)

One major reason why I wanted a rooted phone was for tethering privileges; while i have been able to circumvent at&t's wifi hotspot software, I do not have an option for bluetooth tethering. Is it even possible on our phones, and is there way to enable it?

Thanks in advance,

Constantine

Vzw g2 WiFi tethering topic

I am trying to use foxfi on my g2 on pacman ROM and when I enable WiFi hotspot, I get a system notification that mobile hotspot is enabled. In the settings menu of pacman under data, I see that mobile hotspot is enabled. Does that mean I will be charged for the data that I tether?
The point of foxfi is to get around Verizons expensive plans but I am not sure if my device will report data usage to Verizon since mobile hotspot under settings must be enabled for it to work.

Thanks in advance.

WiFi tethering on nexus 7 3g kot49h KitKat 4.4.2 topic

Dear all,
I followed most instructions from XDA developers and succeeded in rooting and also installed twrp and super su. But unfortunately none of posts worked for me in re enabling tethering. In my windows phone it is a very basic feature they offer. Some apps like foxfi, tetherfix, etc.. Claim to solve the problem but not working. Foxfi is working OK in USB tethering. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please note I'm using airtel connection.

[Q] Tethering no longer working topic

I have the Verizon (locked bootloader) version of the Moto X, rooted on 4.4. Today, my tethering stopped working. I can enabled it on the phone with no issues, but no devices seems to be able to find it. I tried changing the SSID and password, but still no luck. Has anyone else had this issue and maybe could point me in a direction to fix it? Thanks.

Kit Kat 4.4.2 Free hotspot / tethering T-Mobile topic

Prior to upgrading to 4.4.2 I was able to tether my device by modifying the APN and using the hotspot widget. After several attempts to recreate these settings I am unable to. My device is currently not rooted. Does anybody have a working method?

[Q] Is there a way to controll wifi strength in tethering? topic

Hello. There are many people who are more intelligent than me and I hope they may answer my question. It's only slightly related to N7 and I guess it may be removed. Nevertheless, I'll have a go!
So, the problem is that I purchased a 2012 wifi N7 and I have a free 3g internet available. I want to use an old LG GT540 as a modem, The problem is that wifi tethering drains my battery really fast. Is there a way (an app, a frameowork, a setting) to reduce the wifi strenght? I always carry my N7 around LG and I don't want it to produce a very strong wifi signal.
Thanks in advance for any possible solutions.

[Q] Interesting Tethering Problem topic

Maybe it won't be interesting to some of you

I am using a Nexus 4 running 4.4 stock, not rooted and tried to tether my Asus TF700 tablet. I am on T-mobile with the "unlimited" everything 70 dollar plan.

This is my first time tethering in many months

I setup my portable hotspot and my Asus connects to it fine. Apps such as Gmail and Google Maps have access to data albeit seemingly slower than on my phone but regardless it works.

the issue is when i try to browse the web (i use chrome), none of the webpages load and it does not direct me to a T-mobile page trying to sell me tethering plan.

the main reason I am doing this is for Netflix and I get the error "Netflix service is unable to be reached at this time..." but it works on my phone.

My question is...why do some apps have access to the tethering data but not my broweser and netflix? And is there a fix for this?

thank you for any help given to me

airdroid tethering not working topic

hi dear Z1 users, in the past i mennaged to connect my phone to my computer using wifi tethering with air droid, i want to achive that in order to avoid opening my usb flap, unfortunatly my wifi signal is too low for effective transfer using the router so i want to directly connect the phone to the computer.

now for some reason in the past weeks i can't get it to work... niether using airdroid own access point or if i create my own and then activate airdroid on tethering...

if anyone else encountered this i'd like to know, or if you know of a better more reliable program that does the same thats also cool.

VPN and Tethering not working on rooted device, will custom ROM fix that? topic

I came from a GS4 where I used Private Internet Access VPN and WiFi Tether Router. On the Note both services connect but do not route any traffic, my thinking its related to knox. Would a custom ROM fix that? At this point I have to either trip the counter or take this thing back for an iPhone 5S before the jailbreak is patched.

ROOT Motorola Fire XT without break USB Tethering topic

For motorola Fire XT users we all know that all the existing methods can damage the root usb tethering function.
Good news that one XT suhu named Adhyt Aza from Indonesian XTers community to find a way without damaging that usb tethering function!
he was test several times in FIRE XT530 & some chinese android phone and the result is 100 % work

Here we go!

Download
Step:

1. Please install its snapPea - in pc , then enable USB debugging ( application> develoment > usb debugging ) and connect it to the pc

2. So SnapPea applications will respond and detect our Phone , if not detected please install drivers manually from phone & open again snapPea

Quote:

3. Install the application VROOT on pc , let VROOT detect Our Phone type , when it is detected please click the green ROOT

Quote:

4. Wait about 2 minutes and VROOT will execute our FIRE XT

Quote:

5. Then Our XT will restart itself when VROOT already finished executing , when it entered the home screen, please close VROOT and disconnect the usb cable

Quote:

6. Voila! Please check your Application drawer and if you see this then your xt is fully rooted without break Usb Tether!
