Hi, I want to return to stock. I have U/B running ihackers 2.1 but i don't have TA backup. I don't mind not relocking bootloader but just want to return to stock to sell my Z1. Can i just flash a ftf with flash tool to return to stock or does not having TA matter?

Im planning to install Paranoid Android on there.

Everything went well including,

1. Downgrading from .290 to .532
2. Rooting the phone.
3. Backing up TA Partition.


I encountered a problem when it came to unlocking the bootloader. I typed in *#06# to find out my imei and was greeted with a line of zero's?

All the threads I can find say that updating to the latest version which for me is .290 again will recover my imei but although I can download the firmware on the phone via wifi it fails to install every time i try.

My baseband is still showing up on the phone its just the imei which has gone.

I cant download any files on the ftf deposit section either as all the links i need for the eu are missing?

Any help would be much appreciated Thanks.

Play Music save to external storage - can't play offline? topic

So I was excited like many others a few months back when Google Play Music was updated to support external (SD) storage. However I don't know if it is actually being used? I'm hoping someone can tell me more or if they see the same behavior.

If you look at app data for play music, it APPEARS to be saving music - I currently show over 700MB of data for the app. However if I open the app and select "On Device" instead of "All Music", I there is never anything listed (In Listen Now, My Library, etc).

So it appears to me that songs are cached but never used for anything, meaning I'm re-streaming every time I listen to something. It definitely appears that way when I re-listen to playlists.

Anyone else notice this?

ROMs for Global/GSM roaming topic

Hi everyone,

I have a d2vzw running Carbon ROM Kitkat. I spent the weekend back in the UK and enabled global mode, which connected to Vodafone's GSM/HSDPA network using the original Verizon SIM. So I had phone and SMS service - no problems at all.

However, I couldn't get a data connection. It was connected to the HSDPA network (enhanced 3G). Under Settings-->More...-->Mobile networks there is the option ("Access Point Names") to choose an APN. However, none showed up. I tried to add an APN manually, but as soon as I set Vodafone's MCC and MNC, it refused to save the APN info.

Oddly enough, the correct APN settings are all on the phone in Carbon ROMs "apns-conf.xml" file, they're just not showing up.

I tried everything to remedy this, but no luck.

So, here are two questions to harvest your collective wisdom:

First, is there a solution to this? I like Carbon ROM, but I have to have global data access for my work. If I can get my d2vzw running Carbon connected to international GSM networks and APN for internet, then I'd really like to.

Second, does anyone know of a KitKat ROM that DOES do this properly on the d2vzw?

I was running Cyanogen Mod 10.2, decided to update my phone with stock ROM.
Using ADB I re-locked my bootloader. The RUU which I downloaded does not complete the installation and says find a correct RUU.
Which I am not able to find. Now thinking back to roll-back to Cyanogen and unable to unclock the bootloader via ADB.
Please help with how to unlock the bootloader or with a right RUU:

Lockscreen Screen Timeout? topic

Hey there.

One thing I remember from Gingerbread is how, when on lockscreen, the screen would turn off after some 7 secs. So say I wanted to check the clock I could just turn on the screen and put the phone away again. On JB it seems like it uses the same timeout setting as the rest of the system, one I keep at 1 min..

Is there a way to make to make it seperate? I want the screen to turn off after 10 secs when Im on the lockscreen, so I dont have to press the, quite, inconviniently placed power button on my phone, each time (seeing as I got tap2wake on my phone)

From scrapbook to gallery? topic

When I select an area of the screen with the S-pen lasso, I can copy the image to the scrapbook.
However, this image doesn't show up in the gallery. (When I do a whole screen capture, it does show up there).
Is there any way to make the image captured show up in some folder on the gallery?

The reason I ask is that I'd like to import these images into Papyrus, and the image importer there only allows a limited number of apps to choose the image. One of them is gallery, so if Icould make the scrap appear in the gallery, that would solve my problem. Or, maybe there is some other app that works with Papyrus. For now, the best I found is exporting the scrap to Dropbox, and then pasting from Dropbox - a bit too coomplicated...

Negalite lock screen issues topic

I just installed Negalite Rom onto my Galaxy S4 l720 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2381839) and I am unable to set a lock screen. When I go to the settings it says lock screen -> swipe. I click swipe to change it to pin or password. Selecting either one, I put in a pin or password and then hit done. It goes back to the main menu for lock screen security but it does not change it from swipe to pin or password.

Error during OTA Update 4.4.2 topic

Hi,

today I received the OTA update for my Vodafone (Germany) HTC One to 4.4.2. So at first I was missing the stock recovery, thats why the update didn't start.

I the flashed a stock recovery and the update started. But then something went wrong and I got a red exclamation mark. So now I'm not able to boot into android anymore (being stuck at the HTC One screen with the beat audio note). Also when starting the vodafone logo is just a mess - probably because of the broken update.

So what options do I have? Any help would be really appreciated!!

stock keyboard question topic

Okay this is a little bit weird but On my s2,s3, and note2 the keyboard has symbols on it and they all had the same stuff. My girl has the verison s4 and it doesnt have the same symbols on it. Is there a way to get the keyboard from my note2 ported onto her s4. (the reason she wants it is because hers doesnt have the same stupid heart icons that mine does.) please help me out before she decides that she is just going to take my phone and I get stuck with the s4.

[Q] Help needed with unmounted drive. topic

Hi, while in WebOS I was using Tailor and managed to get as far as un-mounting my drive and resizing when I lost the card Tailor was being used in. Now I cannot open Tailor, Pre Ware or anything else on my pad. Also can't access some pretty important photos and documents. Is there anyway of remounting the drive? I didn't delete any info (I hope). All icons are showing up as usual and I can use the browser and email apps ok, none of the rest will open though, they just hang there.
Data on the drive is very important to me and irreplacable so would really appreciate any help.
I had Cyanogenmod installed and was dual booting if that is of any help.

i got some signal problems with my S4 mini (gt-i9195 android 4.4.2 (CM1))
So i decided to flash the newest modem.

I downloaded the newest firmware from samdownloads.com and extracted the tar file.
But i can´t find any modem.bin, theres only the NON-HLOS.bin

The tar file contains the following files:
- cache.img.ext4
- hidden.img.ext4
- system.img.ext4
- boot.img
- recovery.img
- aboot.mbn
- rpm.mbn
- sbl2.mbn
- sbl3.mbn
- tz.mbn
- NIN-HLOS.bin

Is the modem.bin packed in one of these files? Can i extract it?

This isn't the solution asked for - you're supposed to shuffle
the array, not sort it. What's the most simple way to shuffle
a deck of cards? Just remove a random card from the deck and
put it on a new heap and repeat this until there are no more
cards in the deck you started with. And you can shuffle your
array in exactly the same way when you think about it.

The first question is, of course, how to pick a card at random.
Perl has a nice function called 'rand' for this (if you haven't
yet please read the documentation for it, all you've got to do
is type "perldoc -f rand" in your terminal and you get the do-
cumentation.

rand() returns a floating point number. If called without an
argument (or with 0 or 1) it's a floating point number between
0 and less than 1. If you give it any other argument it returns
a random number between 0 and less than the argument. But what
we need is an integer number we can use as an index into our
array. That's were the int() function comes handy, which strips
of the fractional part of a floating point number.

Now, since you start with 52 cards, you would use

my $rnd_index = int( rand( 52 ) );

rand() will return a number between 0 and less than 52, and
int() will make sure that it's an integer bewteen 0 and 51.
Thus the result is suitable for accessing one of the elements
of your array '@startingdeck' and we can put the value of
that element into a new array named '@shuffled'. But we also
have to remove the "card" from the "deck", i.e. the element
from the array. In a very pedestrian way we could do it like
this

randomly selected to a "temporary deck". Then we move the
card we're interested in to our deck of shuffled cards. An
then we put the cards we had stored on the tem,proray deck
back onto the deck we pick cards from.

By the way, if you haven't seen this before: the

for my $i ( 0 .. $rnd_index - 1 ) {

is a for look running from 0 up to '$rnd_index - 1', that's
what the two dots are good for.

Of course, the above code, deals only with the very first card
we remove from the '@startingdeck' array. And it's a bit longish.
Let's first see how we can make this a llop that deals with
all the cards.

When we use

my $rnd_index = int( rand( 52 ) );

we obviously assume that there are 52 cards in the '@startingdeck'
array. But after we've removed on card only 51 one are left. It
probably would make sense to get rid of the '52' and put some-
thing there that is the actual length of '@startingdeck'. And
this is quite simple, just use

my $rnd_index = int( rand( @startingdeck ) );

The trick here is that, when in a number is expected in a certain
place, writing '@arrayname' gives you the number of elements in the
array. And the rand() function expects a number, so we're on the
safe side here. Shouldn't you be certain if a number is expected
than you can always make sure by putting 'scalar' in front of it:

my $rnd_index = int( rand( scalar @startingdeck ) );

With this we now can create a look that deals with all cards:

Well, that works but is rather long and a bit convoluted.
One way to condense it a bit is to use array slices. When
you write e.g.

@startingdeck[ 6 .. 19 ]

you get a new array containg the elements of '@startingdeck'
starting with index 6 and ending with index 19 (note again the
use of the '..' operator). Another nice feature is that you can
combine two arrays rather easily:

my @a = ( 1, 2, 3 );
my @b = ( 4, 5 );
my @c = ( @a, @b );

After this '@c' will contain 5 elements, first the ones from '@a',
then those from '@b'.

Using that we can write

my @shuffled;

while ( @startingdeck ) {

push @shuffled, $startingdeck[ $rnd_index ];

Now, that's already quite a bit shorter and not really much harder
to understand, isn't it?

But we can make it even shorter. There's another function for
arrays, calles splice(), which allows you to remove (or insert)
elements somewehere within an array. E.g.

splice( @startingdeck, 5, 7 )

removes 7 elements from '@startindeck', starting at index 5, and
it returns the removed elements. We can use this to remove the
random card from '@startingdeck' and, at the same time, put it
onto the '@shuffled' array:

my @shuffled;

while ( @startingdeck ) {
my $rnd_index = int( rand( @startingdeck) );
push @shuffled, splice( @startingdeck, $rnd_index, 1 );
}

And, if you feel like it, you can condense the whole loop down
to a single line of code:

push @shuffled, splice @startingdeck, int rand @startingdeck, 1
while @startingdeck;

(You may notice that a lot of parentheses are optional.)

About printing the first 5 element of '@shuffled': there's
nothing wrong with using

my $i = 0;
while ( $i < 5 ) {
print $shuffled[ i ], " ";
}
print "\n\n";

But there are also ways to shorthen this a bit, e.g.

print join( " ", @shuffled[ 0 .. 4 ] ), "\n\n";

So, taking it all together, your whole assigment can done in
just three lines of code;-)

But, of course, it doesn't fit the requirement to use just
push, pop and shift...

You probably have noticed that you do the same thing again
and again. These are the things were it's a good idea to
stop and consider if there's no way to avoid that...

As said there's a lot of redundancy in your code and you
actually don't seem to need the @hearts, @diamonds etc.
arrays except for tempory storage. And there's a clear
sign when a new suite starts, the last character from
the elment of @startingdeck changes from 'H' to 'D' to
'C' and finally 'S'. This can be used:

my @sorted, @temp;

while ( @startingdeck ) {
my @array;
my $char = substr( $startingdeck[ 0 ], -1 );

# Push all elements from @startingdeck that have the same

[Q] Asus Pad bricked? topic

Hi, i tried to root my Asus memo pad fhd 10 using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...568724&page=20
I followed the steps to "6. Unmount /system, Reboot...Done! "
When i reboot the device it get stuck on the Asus logo (boot logo) and nothing happens.

The problem now is that i forgot to put it into debug mode so i can't use any fastboot/adb commands (No devices is listed when i type adb devices).

When i press Power + Volume Up i go into DroidBoot Provision OS where i can choose among these options
1 Reboot DroidBoot
2 Reboot
3 Factory Reset ( Tried this, it will get stuck on boot up)
4 SD Download ( I get error "Error: no detect /mnt/sdcard/asus_bundle.zip"
5 Power Off

I got really no idea how to fix this, any suggestions? Feels so bad to destroy a pad just because i forgot to enable debug mode...

[q] xperia z (c6603) 4.3 gps not working topic

Hello All,

I own an XPERIA Z (C6603 - European LTE) updated to 4.3 android version, and GPS is not working. GPS did not work with JellyBean 4.2 as well. I tested it outdoor, and I live in New York so it is not an issue of satellite coverage. Also, I tried to purge assistant data for GPS in the service menu, and nothing changes. Sometime the phone manage to get "Location set by GPS", but it only last for a couple of minutes and then it stukc on "searching for GPS" forever.

Can someone pls help me to fix this issue?

[Q] SPen not working properly topic

I've had my Note 3 almost since launch and had almost no issues with it, it has been in a spigen case and has fallen from less than 3ft a couple of times with no issues whatsoever, but now my spen is acting weird.

When writing but without the hand on the screen, everything is fine and work properly, but as soon as I put my hand resting on the screen, as I used to, it stops working fluidly and it shutters, even stopping from working at all, but I didn't had this issue in jb. Do you guys think is hardware related or can be solved some way. Had someone experienced something like this??

I had my preferred network type set to LTE. Now, I can't get that setting to stick.

Ok so allot of people have been asking, if kdz can’t see my phone then how do I flash.
This is a simple yet effective solution that I have found.
This will work even if
• usb debugging is off
• You made a factory reset
• Device wont boot
Before I start I need to give thanks to @mircea89fzr for providing this tutorial

Head over to http://lg-phone-firmware.com/ and download a kdz image for your device

Step 2
Download LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix.ZIP (attached) thanks to @mircea89fzr

Step 3
Run B2CAppSetup.exe inside the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN folder and make sure you install the drivers then close the program
(if you get program not responding undo changes you made in the next step and give it some time)

Step 4
Open notepad as Administrator(Go to windows menu, type notepad and right-click and run in Administrator mode)


Step 5
Open the hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc)
And add this line 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
Then save and exit


Step 6
Go to windows menu, type cmd and right-click and run in Administrator mode.
Drag auto.vbs over command prompt and hit enter.


Step 7
Click OK until you get this


Step 8

HI All,

I have a GT-P1000 that I need to get into USB diag mode on, from what I have read the standard *# menus do not work on AOSP ROMs, how can I get into diagnostics mode on this phone?

I have read that I can enable it through /sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/diag, however I don't have a diag folder under usb_composite, is there another method for this tab? I have read that other versions of CM might be able to support usb diag mode, can anyone confirm this?

I know going back to stock might be an option, however I can't seem to find a stock rom for this tab. If anyone has a stock rom, I'd appreciate it (GT-P1000, Hong Kong version, GSM).

'Ok Google' spontaneous open when using Google Music All access topic

Hi,

Recently started the trial of Google play music all access.


I have the Google Now apps installed so My Moto G has the full 'OK Google' functionality going on.

For some reason, the phone 'beeps' and opens up voice search for no reason 80% of the time when a new track starts, or if I skip a track.

Does anyone know why this is, This is usually when a quiet instrumental is playing at the beginning of a song so It's not being driven by someone saying 'ok google' in the song :p..

Any thoughts whats going on. I don't want to disable voice because its actaully very useful when driving to control google maps, etc.

Extremely Fast battery drain. . N9005 topic

Hi.

Wondering if anyone had seen this before on there note 3. My battery was 100% when I woke up this morning. Within about 2 hours it drained down to about 6%.

When checking battery stats there is a system app that looks like it was the culprit.

My phone was red hot for ages before I noticed it. .

It looks like it's the camera or something to do with the camera.

Trying to root xperia T stock 4.3 using the method suggested by DaRk-L0rD . but when i flash provided 4.3 rom zip through internal storage (sdcard0), i get error in cwm as something like this "symlinks failed : some symlinks missing ( status 7 ), aborted". suggesting some symlinks is missing in the provided unsigned zip file. I cant even unmount /system and format /system as suggested by some threads, its getting error.

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

Testing a custom rom topic

Hello,
I am new in this but with a lot of reading and some free time i have managed to create my own first custom rom.
It is MK9 based rom for N7100 .After editing the stock mk9 i use for base a am ready with output.zip.
This is my rom ready for flashing with custom recovery.
And here is my problem -- Is there a way to test is on my PC with emulator before actualy flashing it to Phone to ignore any problems and any
damages on the phone.

What try until now-i run one AVD with Android SDK Emulator and flash a Rom manager to it.The specifications of the AVD are like N7100.
But i am not able or i don't know how to run a custom recovery on AVD or directly flash my custom rom.

My i9003 has problems with connecting to PC. Drivers are latest v1.5.33.0
It connects & dissconnects automatically.. now its not connecting anymore..
It was on froyo & I flashed GB on it.. since then problem.
Also usb debugging is on & in wireless settings - usb - it says to turn off usb debugging!!

Suggest something as I wanna try cm11 on it ;)

I have a samsung s3 lte with a broken camera lens cover. I would like to replace it without affecting the warranty. In order to replace it carefully, I have to take off the middle chassis and cut the tabs on the camera lens cover part which hold the camera lens onto the chassis. Please can you tell me, If I am careful, is it possible to remove and replace the chassis without affecting the warranty? I.e. will I be able to do this without leaving any "tamper" evidence?

Google Play Store not working topic

Hello,

after searching the forums, I havn't found a solution to my particular issue with the Play Store:

I'm always getting the error message "no connection". Even though it's not a connectivity issue related to my IP or whatsoever: I can with no issues access the playstore via the browser.

I have:

- cleared the cache and deleted the date of Google Play
- deleted all data in use at Google Services
- uninstalled Google Play Updates
- uninstalled Google Play and installed a .apk I downloaded from the web
- tried the market enabler app - even though I wasn't expecting any improvement from that move
- updated from 4.3 to 4.4

result: Google Play still tells me to have "no connection"

What else can I try besides resetting my phone?

I am able to do so in Android 4.3 by defining the window Manager LayoutParams as TYPE_SYSTEM_OVERLAY, but when I use the same definition, the layout is now pushed behind the navigation bar. could you please let me know if it due to the recent updates in KitKat? or If any one have a solution please share with me.

Hi.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 (GT-P7320) with Android version 4.0.4 (not rooted).

Some weeks ago, the device freeze during use, and I have to restart by holding down the power button. It took much longer time to start up than usual, therefore I tried another restart (during startup). I probably shouldn't have done this, because this seems to trigger some kind of updating and afterwards a lots of things seems to be back at factory default (icons on start screen, wallpaper etc).

But the data on the internal SD card storage was intact, and all my apps was still installed. But most of the apps was unable to start. It gives a message "Unfortunately, <app name> has stopped". I have found out that if I reinstall the app through Play Store, the app starts working again, but all the settings and data for the app is lost.

I have only so far done this with the apps with no important data or settings, and tries to find out if there is a way to make a backup of the app data before reinstalling the app. I have tried Helium, and it seems to back up the data, but when restoring it's still the same error message. If I try Helium on one of the apps I have reinstalled, it seems to work fine to restore these (incl app data).

I'm no expert on Android but could it be some kind of permission problems? It's very annoying that Android doesn't have a better solution to make backup of app data. Some apps store the app data on the SD card, for example Bad Piggies, and for this app, I copy the app data folder to my computer, reinstalled, and copy the app data back and everything works fine. But the problem is that most apps doesn't store the data on the SD card.

I understand that by rooting the device I will maybe get access to the app data folders, but rooting is not an option.

So my question is, is there another way to get my app data back?

I have read a little about the way Helium works to get access to the app data without root by using some developer features. Would it be possible to get access to the app data on my device, by connecting it to my computer and then use some kind of developer access?

I have also looked at Samsung Kies, but as far as I understand it's not possible to use this to make backup of app data.

I would be glad for any help regarding this issue, and still if there is no way to get the data back, I would like to know.

Moto G wont uninstall apps. topic

Hey guys. 3 days ago I purchased a brand new factory unlocked Moto G in Pakistan. The problem is, whenever I try to uninstall any app I downloaded off the Play Store the phone shuts down and then the start-up screen is displayed after which the phone restarts back to the unlock screen. I did a complete reset to factory settings but the problem still persists. The version of Android is 4.4.2
I could return the device but its a hassle I dont want to take if one of you can help me fix the phone.

I can't see files in TRWP recovry after installing MaximusHD topic

I got my HTC One S s4 a couple of days ago. It was unlocked. With the guides here I managed to root it and S-off and ass I was feeling confident, I installed Maximus HD 10 rom (I think I had android 4.0.1). I followed the instructions and I even got the error described in there.
My problem starts here:

Device will boot in system, wait till you can see device on PC and copy ROM on internal SD card once again.
Repeat ROM installation with Aroma installer, do wipe during install.

The device did boot in system and everything seems to be fine, new android and sense version, ect. I pluged it to PC, copied again the firmware.zip, went to TWRP recovery but the file isn't there. I even placed it inside a folder from root but still the file doesn't apper and that's why I can't continue witht he flashing process even though it seems that there is nothing more to do.
I could leave it like that but what if I want to try another rom some day? :(
In thephone I see 16 gb of storage, in windows explorer 10 gb more or less. If I mount the folders TWRP lets me, I get a device showing in windows explorer that needs to be formated and it's only 48 mb

What can I do?

Phone Screen Won't Turn On topic

Hey guys. So last night when I was getting out of bed my phone dropped on my floor. I have done this multiple times before with no problem. Anyway, now for some reason after I dropped it I only get to see two screens. I see the Samsung screen then the Galaxy S III screen then it goes blank. I even tried booting into Recovery. I see the little blue words at the top saying "Recovery Booting" but then the screen goes blank. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Iam not sure whats the best solution.

I spend a lot of time for searching forum-discussions, tutorials, etc. The Community have different opinions.
Using a thread.sleep in a for-loop, drawing a canvas for each number, ... additional there are different practieces and no informations about the ressources.

my question is: have somebody experience and tipps for the given problem?

Do u need more informations about the project?

(i9500) Increase available user storage space? topic

Hi guys, I'm new to this i9500 development section as my previous
device was galaxy s1 i9000. The i9000 cm 10 or cm 10 based
roms had 2 different partitions which increased available user
storage.
I understand the i9500 user available space is reduced
significantly due to the way it's partitioned so even if I uninstall
bloatware in the/system partition, the available user space will
hardly be affected since it's in the /data partition.
So I wanted to know if the partition is resized or if it can be
resized in cm11 or sammy based roms so as to increase the user storage
space available.
